Key Account Manager / Technical Sales Representative
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Key Account Manager / Technical Sales Representative to join their team in KwaZulu-Natal. This is a technically focused sales and account management role, with automotive as the primary sector, supported by opportunities across the paper & pulp and mining/earthmoving industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and growing key customer relationships, providing technical product solutions, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving agreed sales targets across the KZN region.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, retain and grow key customer accounts, with a primary focus on the automotive sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering, production, procurement and other key stakeholders.
- Provide technical sales support and recommend appropriate mechanical and technical solutions to customers.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue within existing accounts and develop new business opportunities.
- Build and strengthen customer relationships within the paper & pulp sector.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the mining and earthmoving sector.
- Manage the sales pipeline and consistently work towards monthly and annual sales targets.
- Prepare quotations, negotiate commercial terms and manage opportunities through to successful closure.
- Monitor account performance and provide regular sales and pipeline reports.
- Act as the key technical and commercial liaison between the organisation and its customers.
- Travel throughout KwaZulu-Natal as required to service existing customers and develop new business opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5–10 years’ experience in technical sales, preferably within a B2B industrial environment.
- Proven experience in key account management and technical sales, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge.
- A Mechanical Engineering qualification would be advantageous.
- Working knowledge or experience within the paper & pulp industry.
- Exposure to mining, earthmoving or heavy equipment would be advantageous.
