Ryan Companies US, Inc. has an exciting career opportunity for a Commissioning Program Manager to join our National Mission Critical team!
The Commissioning Program Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the commissioning program across multiple construction projects for a single client. This role establishes and maintains commissioning standards, oversees project execution, and supports field teams to ensure building systems are planned, installed, tested, and documented in accordance with performance, quality, and safety requirements. The Commissioning Program Manager serves as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, design teams, subcontractors, and owners to drive successful handover of high-performing facilities.
Some things you can expect to do:
Program Leadership & Strategy
Develop and maintain company-wide commissioning procedures, standards, and best practices.
Manage commissioning project delivery strategies across all applicable project sites.
Develop, implement, and ensure project participation in the company commissioning program and processes.
Refine commissioning practices and policies used in the field and develop methods/techniques for driving issues to resolution.
Regularly review commissioning progress, risks, issues, and KPI metrics across active projects and report to management.
Support hiring efforts for commissioning managers and personnel as needed.
Assist in staffing and resource allocation planning for commissioning across multiple projects.
Team Leadership & Guidance
Lead, mentor, and performance-manage a team of commissioning professionals.
Provide training and guidance to field teams on commissioning sequencing, durations, and expectations.
Coordinate and, when needed, lead commissioning kickoff meetings to describe commissioning objectives and requirements to equipment vendors, subcontractors, and owner representatives.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability within the commissioning team.
Role should expect to have up to 8 direct reports.
Project Coordination & Support
Review design documents to understand and communicate system performance requirements for each project.
Ensure project commissioning teams are aware of and aligned with design intent and performance criteria.
Attend key owner/architect/contractor (OAC), commissioning, and coordination meetings as required.
Manage high-level coordination and issue resolution with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders when critical commissioning issues arise.
Provide project teams with guidance on commissioning schedule integration, issue tracking and closure, client communications, and general commissioning management.
Field Oversight & Execution
Ensure field inspections, functional testing, and documentation support the successful execution of the quality and commissioning program.
Collaborate with project teams to monitor progress of commissioning activities and ensure alignment with project milestones.
Provide on-site support at active projects as required to troubleshoot issues and support successful commissioning execution.
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing
Implement and maintain commissioning KPIs and continuous improvement processes to prevent repeat deficiencies and minimize impacts to project schedules.
Capture, document, and communicate lessons learned across projects to improve future commissioning efforts.
Contribute to the development of training materials, tools, and templates that support consistent commissioning delivery.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, building systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience in commercial construction, MEP systems, or related technical field including 5+ years of experience in data center commissioning; multi-project or program-level experience preferred.
Strong understanding of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and life safety).
Proven experience leading commissioning activities on complex or large-scale projects.
Experience coordinating with owners, design teams, contractors, and vendors in a construction environment.
