Description

Saxo Bank is seeking a dedicated, analytical, and process-oriented Recon Owner for Cash and Open Exposure within Markets to join the Recon Risk Management team.

About the Role

We are seeking a Recon Owner for Cash and Open Exposure, a newly established role designed to strengthen ownership, governance, and reporting across reconciliations covering cash balances and open exposures. The position provides independent oversight and control of operational reconciliations while ensuring strong governance standards are maintained.

You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Network Management, the Reconciliation team, Group Finance, Operations, Markets, and IT. Together, you will ensure reconciliations are complete, accurately governed, and supported by appropriate reporting and evidence for financial and regulatory purposes.

As Recon Owner, you will be responsible for ensuring reconciliations covering cash and open exposure are implemented, monitored, and maintained across all relevant contracts, excluding client and partner reconciliations. While reconciliations are performed by the Reconciliation team in IntelliMatch, you will define requirements, monitor completeness and quality, and ensure results are reported in line with governance and business requirements.

The role requires a strong understanding of the Bank’s systems and reporting landscape to establish scalable, digital reconciliation processes aligned with contractual obligations and reporting requirements. A key objective is to enhance automation, improve control frameworks, and support internal and external financial reporting.

We have recently launched a new reconciliation completeness tool, Broker Recon, developed with AI support. Cash reconciliation is expected to be fully implemented by the end of Q3 2026, while exposure reconciliation is expected to be completed by the end of Q4 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 3-5 years of reconciliation experience who is looking to broaden their expertise and contribute to a forward-looking, technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Recon Owner will establish ownership, reporting, and documentation standards for cash and open exposure reconciliations while driving improvements in completeness, transparency, and auditability.

Broker Recon will become the primary platform for reconciliation controls and reporting. Until full implementation, existing tools and manual processes will remain in use.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform monthly reviews of reconciliation completeness, ensuring balances and exposures recorded in the general ledger can be matched to internal contracts and external reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reporting on findings, exceptions, and remediation activities to stakeholders.
  • Conduct daily and weekly follow-up on aged reconciliation breaks in accordance with established procedures, including communication with custodians, counterparties, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assess and monitor the impact of reconciliation breaks on trading conditions and obtain stakeholder sign-off where required.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure new products, initiatives, and agreements are correctly incorporated into the reconciliation framework.
  • Collaborate closely with IT and AI development teams to continuously improve reconciliation processes, controls, and automation capabilities.

Your Profile

We are looking for a candidate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience gained within financial services. You have a solid understanding of financial products, reconciliations, accounting principles, and project delivery.

  • Strong written communication skills in English are essential.
  • You are comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with a structured, detail-oriented, and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience within financial services is an advantage.
  • Exposure to SQL, data analysis, technical documentation, process automation, or AI-driven solutions will be considered a strong asset.
  • Experience working with large datasets and investigating cash and exposure breaks will support success in the role.
