Mental Health Technician / Driver
Location: High Focus Centers – Pottstown, PA
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Compensation: $17.00–$18.00 per hour, based on experience
About High Focus Centers
High Focus Centers, formerly Onward Behavioral Health, is a leading provider of outpatient behavioral healthcare throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. We deliver evidence-based treatment for adolescents and adults experiencing mental health, substance use, and eating disorders in a compassionate, collaborative, and recovery-focused environment.
We are currently seeking a Mental Health Technician / Driver to join our Pottstown team. This position provides direct client support while ensuring the safe transportation of clients to and from programming. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, and committed to delivering exceptional care in a fast-paced behavioral healthcare setting.
Position Summary
The Mental Health Technician / Driver plays an essential role in supporting daily program operations by providing transportation, monitoring client safety, assisting the clinical team, and fostering a positive therapeutic environment. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients while maintaining a safe and structured treatment setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport clients to and from programming using company vehicles while adhering to all driving policies and procedures.
- Monitor and supervise clients throughout the treatment day to promote a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.
- Build positive, professional relationships with clients by providing encouragement, support, and appropriate redirection.
- Reinforce treatment goals and support clients in following individualized treatment plans.
- Observe client behaviors and communicate significant concerns or changes to the clinical team.
- Assist clinicians and program staff with daily program operations and group activities.
- Welcome and orient new clients to program expectations and daily schedules.
- Maintain accurate documentation and effectively communicate client updates to team members.
- Respond appropriately during crisis situations by following established safety protocols.
- Engage with clients during meals, recreational activities, and downtime to promote a positive therapeutic community.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming treatment environment, including stocking supplies and supporting facility needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development.
- Assist with onboarding and mentoring new team members as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to meet company driving requirements and safely transport clients.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in a behavioral healthcare environment.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related behavioral health field.
- Previous experience working in mental health, substance use treatment, or behavioral healthcare.
- Experience working with adolescents and/or adults in a therapeutic setting.
