Shift FMCS Operator cum Technician (Facilities Operations)

Position Title : FMCS Operator cum Technician

Department : Facilities Operations

Location : Semiconductor / Advanced Manufacturing Facility

Reports To : Shift Engineer / Facilities Supervisor

Position Summary

The FMCS Operator cum Technician is responsible for real-time monitoring, alarm management, first-line troubleshooting, field verification, and coordination of all critical facility utility systems through the Facilities Monitoring & Control System (FMCS), BMS, and SCADA platforms. This role acts as the "Eyes and Ears" of Facilities Operations, ensuring uninterrupted operation of plant utilities and supporting rapid response to abnormal events.

The position combines Control Room Operations and Field Technician Activities to ensure timely alarm response, equipment reliability, safety compliance, and continuous plant operation.

Person should have proficiency in using Gen AI Tools, Copilot, Copilot library & Agent bots.

Key Responsibilities

1. FMCS / BMS / SCADA Monitoring

  • Monitor all facility systems continuously through FMCS, BMS, and SCADA platforms.
  • Track operational status, equipment health, trends, and performance parameters.
  • Monitor utility systems including:
    • Electrical Distribution Systems
    • HVAC & Cleanroom Systems
    • Chillers & Cooling Towers
    • CDA (Compressed Dry Air) Systems
    • UPW (Ultra Pure Water) Systems
    • RO/DI Water Systems
    • Industrial Water Systems
    • Wastewater Treatment & ZLD Systems
    • Fire Detection & Life Safety Systems
    • Gas Detection Systems
    • Exhaust & Scrubber Systems
    • Environmental Monitoring Systems

2. Alarm Management & Response

  • Monitor, acknowledge, classify, and respond to alarms 24/7.
  • Analyze alarm priority levels:
    • Critical
    • Major
    • Minor
    • Advisory
  • Escalate alarms according to escalation matrix and SOPs.
  • Notify duty engineers and responsible technicians during abnormal conditions.
  • Ensure alarm closure after verification and restoration

3. Field Verification & Troubleshooting

  • Perform field inspections to verify alarms and abnormal equipment conditions.
  • Conduct first-level troubleshooting of utility systems.
  • Support equipment restart and restoration activities.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams during breakdowns.
  • Assist in corrective and preventive maintenance activities.

4. Event Logging & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate operational logs and event records.
  • Record:
    • Equipment trips
    • Utility interruptions
    • Alarm history
    • Maintenance activities
    • Emergency events
  • Prepare shift reports and daily operation summaries.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and operational reviews.

5. Dispatch & Coordination

  • Act as central coordination point during equipment failures and emergencies.
  • Dispatch technical personnel to affected locations.
  • Follow-up and track restoration progress.
  • Coordinate with:
    • Facilities Engineers
    • Operations Teams
    • ERT (Emergency Response Team)
    • Contractors and Vendors

6. Shift Handover Activities

  • Conduct detailed shift pass-downs.
  • Communicate:
    • Outstanding alarms
    • Equipment under maintenance
    • Ongoing troubleshooting activities
    • Pending work orders
    • Critical plant risks
  • Ensure smooth transition between shifts.

7. Emergency Response Support

  • Support emergency situations including:
    • Power Failure
    • Utility Outage
    • Chiller Failure
    • Fire Alarm Events
    • Water Leakage
    • Hazardous Gas Alarms
    • Environmental Excursions
  • Provide real-time information and system status updates.
  • Assist ERT during incident response and recovery activities.

8. Routine Operational Activities

  • Perform equipment health checks.
  • Review operational trends and system performance.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Identify recurring alarms and recommend improvements.
  • Support reliability and energy-saving initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education : Dimploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in Facilities Operations, Utilities Operations, Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Data Center, Chemical, or Manufacturing Industries.
  • Experience in CMMS, FMCS, BMS, SCADA, or Industrial Automation Systems preferred.
