Description
Cultivation Technician
Reports to: Facility Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Cultivation
Pay: $16.00 an hour
Position Summary:
Support the cultivation team by providing hands-on care for cannabis
plants throughout the entire growth cycle, ensuring healthy, high-quality plants while
maintaining compliance with company and state regulations. Support the Cultivation Department by contributing to efficient plant production, maintaining quality standards, and helping ensure a consistent supply of cannabis products for downstream processing and retail
operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform pruning, defoliation, trimming, cloning, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, and plant support throughout the cannabis growth cycle.
- Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, or environmental stress.
- Record plant growth, production data, and environmental conditions accurately.
- Assist with harvesting, post-harvest processing, and movement of plants.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, organized, and inspection-ready cultivation facility.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and state regulatory requirements.
- Assist with inventory counts, sanitation projects, and other cultivation duties as assigned.
Success Metrics:
Success is measured by consistently completing assigned cultivation
tasks on time, maintaining plant health and quality, accurately documenting production
activities, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining compliance
with state regulations, and contributing to overall cultivation yields and facility
cleanliness.
- Plants are maintained according to cultivation standards with minimal quality issues.
- Daily assignments are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Cultivation rooms remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
- Production data is recorded accurately and consistently.
- SOPs and compliance requirements are followed without deviation
- Strong attendance, reliability, and teamwork contribute to meeting cultivation production
- goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Qualifications:
- Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED required.
- Work Experience: 1–3 years of experience in cannabis cultivation, horticulture,agriculture, greenhouse operations, manufacturing, or similar production environments preferred. Experience working with cannabis plant growth cycles is preferred but not required.
- Must be 21+ years of age
Hard Skills:
- Basic understanding of plant care and cultivation techniques.
- Ability to accurately follow written procedures and work instructions.
- Ability to record production information accurately.
- Ability to safely operate basic cultivation tools and equipment.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Dependable and self-motivated.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude with willingness to learn.
Certifications & License:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to pass OMMU background check
- Horticulture or agricultural training is a plus but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient for detailed plant work.
- Ability to work around pollen, dust, raw plant materials, and cultivation equipment.
- Visual acuity necessary to identify plant health concerns and quality issues Work Environment:
- Work is performed inside a regulated cannabis cultivation facility.
- Regular exposure to humidity, temperature fluctuations, grow lighting systems, and plant materials.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required depending on assigned tasks.
- Fast-paced production environment with strict compliance and sanitation standards.
