JOB PURPOSE

The Heavy Equipment Operator supports the safe and efficient operation of G&Z Transport, LLC’s New Mexico sand plant and yard operations. This position is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment, assisting with the movement and organization of material, supporting plant and loadout activities, performing routine equipment inspections, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility.

The Heavy Equipment Operator will maintain effective communication with the Plant Lead, Lead Operator, Dispatch, Maintenance, Fleet, drivers, and other yard personnel to support daily operations and address equipment, material, safety, and logistical needs.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operate heavy equipment used      in sand plant and yard operations.
• Move, load, stockpile, and organize      sand and other materials as directed by the Plant Lead or Lead Operator.
• Assist with coordinating material      coming into and leaving the plant and ensure inventory is tracked and      maintained in assigned areas.
• Support plant loadout activities and      help maintain an efficient flow of material and trucks through the      facility.
• Perform pre-shift and routine      inspections of assigned equipment and promptly report mechanical,      operational, or safety concerns.
• Monitor equipment performance and      identify conditions requiring maintenance or repair.
• Assist with mechanical issues and      perform minor field repairs or adjustments that can safely be completed      within the employee’s training and ability.
• Communicate equipment concerns and      mechanical issues to the Plant Lead, Dispatch, Maintenance, and Fleet      teams as appropriate.
• Monitor traffic flow throughout the      yard and assist with maintaining the safe movement of trucks, heavy      equipment, employees, and visitors.
• Assist drivers and other personnel      with plant and yard operations as needed.
• Identify equipment, material,      housekeeping, or operational needs within the yard and communicate those      needs to the Plant Lead.
• Report logistical, operational,      equipment, or safety issues to the Plant Lead.
• Assist the Safety Department with      incident reporting, cleanup, and other safety-related activities as      required.
• Maintain equipment, work areas, and      plant areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform general plant and yard      housekeeping duties, including shoveling, sweeping, trash removal,      cleanup, and painting as needed.
• Safely climb into, onto, and around      mobile and plant equipment as required.
• Work safely around moving trucks,      trailers, heavy equipment, conveyors, and other plant machinery.
• Follow all company safety policies,      procedures, and site-specific requirements.
• Properly use required personal      protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain professional conduct and      communication with coworkers, drivers, customers, vendors, and management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned      based on operational and business needs.

Requirements

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

• Valid driver’s license with a clean      Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Class A CDL is a plus but not      required.
• Previous heavy equipment operating      experience is preferred.
• Ability to safely operate heavy      equipment used in plant, yard, material-handling, aggregate, trucking, or      similar industrial operations.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and the      ability to recognize and report common equipment problems are preferred.
• Familiarity with loadout operations      is a plus but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written      instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively      with supervisors, coworkers, drivers, Dispatch, Maintenance, and Fleet      personnel.
• Ability to work independently while      also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Maintain a professional manner on and      off the job site.
• Prompt, regular, and predictable      attendance is required.
• Ability and willingness to work the      assigned 6-days-on/3-days-off schedule consisting of      12-hour shifts.
• Ability to work day or night shifts,      including weekends and holidays when they fall within the employee’s      scheduled rotation.

The employee must be able to:

• Sit, stand, walk, work, and operate      equipment for up to 12 hours per shift.
• Frequently bend, stoop, squat, reach,      push, pull, and maneuver around equipment.
• Climb stairs and ladders and climb      into, onto, and around mobile and plant equipment.
• Safely enter and exit heavy equipment      multiple times throughout the workday.
• Lift and move items and products      weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Perform physical work throughout an      active sand plant and equipment yard.
• Work for extended periods in outdoor      and industrial conditions.
• Maintain the physical ability      necessary to safely perform the essential functions of the position.

The Heavy Equipment Operator primarily performs duties outdoors and within an active sand plant and equipment yard. Employees will routinely work in areas with moving trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, plant machinery, conveyors, and material-handling operations.

The employee must be able to work in varying outdoor and environmental conditions, including hot, cold, dry, dusty, rainy, snowy, windy, and icy conditions.

The work environment may include exposure to dust, noise, vibration, moving machinery, uneven surfaces, and other conditions normally associated with heavy equipment and industrial plant operations.

This position requires constant awareness of surrounding equipment, vehicles, employees, and changing conditions. Employees are required to comply with all G&Z Transport, LLC safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and site-specific safety rules.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.

The normal work schedule for this position is 6 days on followed by 3 days off, working 12-hour shifts. Employees may be assigned to a day or night shift based on operational needs.
