Position purpose:
In support of the Chief Financial Officer and the Director of Finance, supports the direction and development of the long-term organizational financial strategy and operations. The Manager of Finance is responsible for oversight of the Senior Financial Analysts. Manager will be responsible for developing, interpreting and implementing complex financial and accounting concepts or techniques to support financial planning and control as well as providing financial business development, analytical services and recommendations that influence sound business decisions, enable delivery of business objectives and guide long-term business planning choices within West Michigan sites, divisions or at the organizational level.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
Preferred: Master’s degree
Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Broad based experience knowledge of finance, business planning, cost accounting/service line analysis and budgeting normally obtained over five to eight years of progressive financial experience. Strong track record of working successfully with members of the Senior Leadership Team, operations, management and staff.
Preferred: Five (5) years financial analysis experience; experience in a health care organization.
What the Finance Manager will do:
Leadership and Management Responsibilities – Manages assigned staff – hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, disciplining and terminations; Ensures that policy is followed, procedures are updated and supports Finance training efforts for the organization.
Manages the work of assigned staff including monitoring staff competencies, hiring of new staff, orientation of new assignments, developing goals and objectives, conducting annual performance appraisal and the utilization of performance resolution process when needed.
Ensures consistent, efficient, and timely month-end reporting.
Monitors proper reporting for department financials and provides guidance to staff and recommendations to leadership on allocations.
Supports leadership training regarding financials, ensures understanding of key financial metrics to support the office/department ability to maintain sound financial viability and understanding of budgets.
Manages finance team and department functions in a way that builds and leverages teamwork and cooperation; inspires a shared sense of mission and achievement among team members.
Promotes educational opportunities for staff; develops future leadership within the Finance team.
