Senior Chiller Technician
Location: Madinah, Saudi Arabia

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Chiller Technician to join our team in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation support, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of HVAC and chiller equipment while ensuring compliance with Carrier standards, manufacturer guidelines, quality requirements, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) procedures.
The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly chillers, be customer-oriented, and be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and complete assigned service, maintenance, inspection, and repair tasks within the required timeframe and to the expected quality standards.
- Perform daily tasks in accordance with standard processes, work instructions, and verbal or written directions, including completion of daily timesheets.
- Inspect HVAC and chiller equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment in accordance with industry practices and manufacturer recommendations.
- Repair or replace damaged or defective components as required.
- Adjust and maintain electrical and electronic control systems.
- Perform maintenance activities including coil and blower cleaning, motor inspection, and checking belt condition and tension.
- Support troubleshooting and maintenance of DX and airside equipment, reciprocating chillers, screw chillers, and scroll chillers.
- Prepare estimates of required labor hours, materials, parts, and tools.
- Prepare accurate inspection reports covering site conditions, scope of work, findings, and technical recommendations.
- Complete Job Completion Certificates, Job Cards, EH&S site surveys, maintenance records, and other required service documentation.
- Keep customers informed of the nature and progress of work upon arrival and before leaving the site.
- Communicate outstanding issues, risks, and recommended improvements or enhancements to customers and supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area upon completion of each task.
- Work independently when required and demonstrate sound technical judgment in the absence of direct supervision.
- Identify situations requiring escalation and promptly seek guidance or additional support from the Supervisor or Manager.
- Work closely with colleagues as part of an integrated and collaborative team.
- Recognize safety hazards associated with HVAC operations and implement appropriate controls to ensure safe execution of work.
- Identify and manage potential risks and hazards associated with all work-related activities.
- Safely rig and set up gantries and lifting arrangements for HVAC equipment and support activities such as pump and chiller overhauls.
- Manage and organize machinery and tools, including pickup, delivery, usage, and inventory as applicable.
- Attend and actively participate in EH&S and technical training sessions and meetings.
- Use computers, mobile devices, and relevant applications for work orders, reporting, communication, and documentation.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, HVAC, or a related technical field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in the HVAC industry in field service and chiller maintenance.
- Valid Saudi driving license.
- Good command of English, including speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
The ideal candidate should have knowledge and practical understanding of:
- HVAC equipment maintenance and repair principles and practices, in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- HVAC safety practices and procedures for installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing activities.
- Safety documentation, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS).
- Proper utilization, handling, care, and management of tools and equipment.
- Inspection and technical report preparation.
- Quality management practices in accordance with company requirements and applicable quality standards.
- Basic electrical systems and controls.
- Basic building automation and controls.
- Basic metal sheet/fabrication, carpentry, and related maintenance activities.
- Safe lifting and rigging practices for HVAC equipment.
- Basic computer skills and the use of mobile applications for field service activities.
Minimum Product Knowledge
Hands-on knowledge or experience with the following equipment is preferred:
- DX and airside equipment
- Reciprocating chillers
- Screw chillers
- Scroll chillers
