Position Summary: The Nordic Cashier/Technician is a guest-focused team member with a positive attitude and passion for the outdoor lifestyle. This role combines front-line customer service with rental and equipment support, ensuring guests have a seamless and enjoyable Nordic experience. Responsibilities include assisting guests with purchases and rentals, managing point-of-sale transactions, and helping fit and maintain equipment. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who provides friendly, knowledgeable service and can effectively handle guest questions and concerns. Success in this role requires attention to detail, organization, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. A proactive, team-oriented mindset and commitment to creating a welcoming, safe environment are essential. 

 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: 

  • Greet and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner, providing information about Nordic center services, programs, and trail conditions. 

  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately process payments for trail passes, rentals, lessons, retail items, and other services. 

  • Issue and collect rental equipment, including skis, boots, and poles, ensuring proper fit and function for each guest. 

  • Inspect, maintain, and clean rental equipment, performing basic adjustments and reporting repair needs. 

  • Educate guests on proper use and care of rental gear and provide basic instruction on equipment setup. 

  • Balance cash drawer and maintain accurate records of daily transactions. 

  • Restock and organize merchandise, rental inventory, and work areas to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment. 

  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including equipment organization, shop setup, and end-of-day reporting. Communicate effectively with instructors and other staff to coordinate lessons, rentals, and guest needs. 

  • Uphold all company safety standards and policies, creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere for guests and coworkers. 

  • Handle guest questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional, solutions-focused manner. 

  • Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests. 

  • All employees are expected to support Eldora’s corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions, lead by example, and ensure adequate parking for our guests. 

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.

Specific Job Skills: 

  • High school degree or equivalent. 

  • Previous experience with customer service preferred. 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Bending, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling & prolonged standing. 

  • Eye/hand coordination & visual concentration on equipment. 

  • Concentrated reading and writing. 

  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.   

  • Variation in temperature from hot to cold. 

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Compensation: The proposed hiring rate of $19+ actual pay will be adjusted based on experience. 

  • Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts.  Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available. Additionally, this position accumulates sick time.
