Job Description

Essencial Responsibilities

• Be the MPE, the Main Project Engineer on a given project. As such, you will be the technical person in charge to lead the hydro turbine mechanical design on a new or refurbishment project, supported by Designers, Principal and Consulting Engineers.
• Responsible of the cross section of the turbine in respect of contract requirements and regulatory compliance and ensure interface between each component of the turbine.
• Analyse contract, prepare and dispatch Work Packages to Design Engineers (DE).
• Participate in identifying the risks and opportunities of the project on technical matters. 
• Plan and follow project engineering basic design phase and coordinate with Hydraulic design team (hydraulic test lab) and Special Calculation team. 
• Perform designs and calculations of turbine components and validate critical ones with Principal/Consulting Engineers.  
• Direct and manage design reviews, perform design review actions follow-up. 
• Coordinate Basic design interfaces between all turbine sub COEs and all DE.
• At as technical leader and first interlocutor to DE for technical support.
• Ensure the technical design coherence between all DE.
• Optimize designs with Supply Chain, and Site Installation  
• Provide technical support to System Integrator if needed.
• Ensure quality of engineering deliverables and execution with DE.
• Responsible of the final cross section with final detail drawings.
• Write reports and engineering documents, including test procedures, engineering calculation notes, operation and maintenance manuals.  
• Occasionally conduct site visits to assess the existing turbine and participate to signature tests on the unit before disassembly at site.
• Principal point of contact for Construction & Commissioning site support.
• Follow up the performance testing of the prototype turbine on site. 
• Develop tools and design guides for turbine engineering.

 

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or Masters degree in a relevant discipline, including relevant experience in hydro mechanical design.
• Demonstrate technical leadership. 
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively. 
• Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited, reference verification and background check.
• Availability for occasional travel, in Brazil, Canada and USA.
• Must be fully bilingual, mastering both Portuguese and English.
