Shift Premium: $2.00/hr
Job Responsibilities: (This job description in no way implies that these are the only duties to be performed in this position. Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions or to perform other job duties requested by their manager.)
1. Assist employees in their work and assist with training operators in work instructions on material handling equipment (tuggers, carts MRM, scanners, etc.), material handler duties and responsibilities, and material flow in the plant.
2. Maintain flow rack identification on the floor as well as locations for carts.
3. Correction of any loading errors in the line physically and in the system.
4. Maintain lines with zero downtime due to waiting on parts.
5. Support and maintain routes established and look for improvements.
6. Evaluate performance of material handlers.
7. Responsible for the delivery of parts to the line and report any disruptions to the Material Handling Area Leader.
8. Perform and lead cycle counts for line side inventory.
9. Perform daily audits of work area for 5S and safety check list for equipment, and report all issues found to Area Leader.
10. Communicate issues to Area Leader or Department Manager.
11. Fosters positive working relationships with all personnel in the division.
12. Recommends proposals for improving products, processes, systems and work environment through the continuous improvement process and encourages employees to participate in the process as well.
13. Collects data and fills out reports as necessary to achieve departmental objectives.
14. Fill in for operators that need to temporarily leave the line.
15. Leads by example to other employees by attendance, good work performance and displaying positive behaviors.
16. Follows and supports LMV Automotive System’s and Magna’s operating principles, including:
a. Magna Employee Charter – Operating under its principles by treating all employees equally, fairly and with dignity and respect without favoritism.
b. Open Door Policy – Facilitates the process without fear of reprisal. Solves issues by encouraging two-way, open and friendly communication.
c. C48 – Listens to issues and concerns and responds within 48 hours
d. 5S – Maintains and promotes good housekeeping by following the philosophy “Everything has a place. Everything in its place.”
e. Safety First - Leads by example and enforces all of the plant’s safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.
f. Company quality and environmental policies.
g. Core values – Treat all employees equally, fairly, with dignity and respect, without favoritism in accordance with company values.
17. Act as Shipping Coordinator performing duties of that job description as needed.
18. Supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Although the position does not have direct supervisory experience, it will serve as a trainer and leader to operators.
Qualifications: (These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Employees will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.)
Education and/or Experience:
Must have high school diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to obtain a forklift license.
• Ability to drive tuggers.
• Ability to use tablet devices, scanners and printers for barcode labels.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to set direction and make decisions.
• Must have good organizational skills.
• Must exhibit high integrity and honesty.
• Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups.
• Ability to define problems collect date, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands:
• Continuous walking, standing, and sitting
• Repetitive lifting up to 50lbs.
