Job Summary
The Heavy Forklift Operator plays a key role in supporting the claims operation by delivering essential services to the company's Salvage unit. This position is responsible for inspecting, photographing, and relocating vehicles using a heavy forklift to designated staging areas. Additional duties include accurately recording vehicle locations in inventory systems, assisting haulers with loading and unloading disabled vehicles, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe salvage lot. The role also involves identifying unrelated damages on total loss vehicles, preparing vehicles for weekly auctions, monitoring and reporting safety concerns, and performing routine forklift inspections to ensure proper operation.
Job Duties
- Inspect, photograph, and relocate salvage vehicles with the use of a heavy forklift.
- Record vehicle condition, mileage, and attributes in handheld devices.
- Record and track vehicle locations in inventory systems to ensure lot accuracy.
- Maintain, clean and organize the salvage lot and identify safety issues and unrelated damages on total loss vehicles.
- Completing routine forklift checks to ensure safety compliance.
- Prepare vehicles for weekly salvage auctions.
- Assist salvage buyers and haulers loading and unloading disabled vehicles and assist vehicle owners when retrieving personal property.
- Consult with team manager or supervisor on any security or salvage lot issues.
Qualifications
- High School GED Equivalent combination of education and experience Required
- 1-3 years Driving 15,000-20,000lb forklifts Required
- Forklift Certification - Forklift Certification Institute Required
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel to off-site business meetings or conferences.
The starting pay range for this position is:
$19.14 - $25.50Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
