Description
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial and grounds maintenance tasks in and around County-owned and operated recreation facilities. This role ensures cleanliness, safety, and functionality, contributing to a welcoming environment for visitors and staff.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain department buildings and offices in a clean, orderly condition according to prescribed standards.
- Perform custodial tasks, including but not limited to:
- Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors.
- Vacuuming and spot-cleaning carpets.
- Emptying and sanitizing trash containers.
- Cleaning walls, windows, furniture, and other surfaces.
- Cleaning and restocking restrooms.
- Cleaning the outside property.
- Post appropriate warning signs (e.g., “Wet Floor” or “Wet Paint”) to ensure public safety.
- Report maintenance or repair needs for buildings, property and equipment to the Facility Manager.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as Floor machines and carpet cleaners.
- Use cleaning products and tools safely and effectively, adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, and the public as needed.
Additional Job Functions
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
- Assisting with securing the property, if needed.
- Assist in other facility operations as required.
Minimum Training and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically able to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, carpet cleaners, and floor machines.
- Requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to remain on feet for extended periods.

- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
- Capable of listening, understanding, and following instructions.
Knowledge and Skills
- Familiarity with cleaning methods, tools, and chemicals, including their safe usage.
- Basic maintenance skills and ability to identify facility repair needs.
