About this Role
Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Area Manager - Power Generation to oversee all construction activities, subcontractor performance, and field execution within an assigned power block on a utility-scale power generation project. The Area Manager serves as the primary field leader responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and quality execution of all subcontracted work while maintaining alignment with project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
This position plays a critical role in coordinating multiple subcontractors, resolving field issues, driving productivity, and ensuring successful project delivery.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all field construction activities within an assigned power block or designated area of the project.
- Manage and coordinate all subcontractors performing civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and specialty work within the assigned area.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, quality standards, and site safety policies.
- Monitor daily construction progress and productivity to ensure achievement of schedule milestones.
- Conduct daily coordination meetings and communicate priorities, work plans, constraints, and safety expectations.
- Identify and resolve field execution issues, conflicts, and resource constraints to minimize schedule impacts.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, safety, procurement, commissioning, and project controls teams.
- Verify subcontractor manpower, equipment, material readiness, and work performance.
- Track and report progress, productivity metrics, risks, corrective actions, and forecasted completion dates.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements, company standards, and client expectations.
- Support quality inspections, punch list resolution, turnover activities, and system completion requirements.
- Review subcontractor work plans and ensure construction activities are executed according to approved procedures.
- Participate in client meetings and provide updates regarding assigned area performance and progress.
- Assist in evaluating change orders, field directives, and subcontractor claims related to assigned work areas.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications
- High school or GED required.
- Minimum 15+ years of construction experience with at least 10 years in a supervisory or area management role.
- Experience on power generation, combined-cycle, simple-cycle, renewable energy, industrial, or large-scale EPC projects.
- Proven experience managing multiple union subcontractors in a complex construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts.
- Strong leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software platforms.
