Job Details
This role is in support of Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business.
This is a key role that will be helping to support and co-ordinate activity in a relatively new and exciting specialist department - the Customs, Trade Compliance and Logistics Executive will work with the Customs & Trade Compliance Manager (C&TCM) to ensure the organisation is co-ordinating compliant, timely processes for successful goods movement and associated customs clearance with various product shipments (primarily imports / exports and logistics between GB and the EU, and secondly customs clearances for Gibraltar, the Channel Islands and Rest of the World). This is a central role supporting effective daily links across many departments. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Customs and Trade Compliance Manager and one more Executive, but will have to interact (daily) with people from different departments. Also, liaising with HMRC and other Regulators, Transport Companies, Suppliers or customs intermediaries will be required on a daily basis.
The role-holder will support and co-ordinate key activities and procedures required and identified with key internal stakeholders across the group at all levels and with key external stakeholders at all levels of an organisation for example HMRC, Transport Hauliers, Government Trader Support Services, pharmaceutical manufacturers, regulatory and other government, or professional associations.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Prepare and submit accurately and on time, customs declaration into the relevant systems.
2. To independently co-ordinate the international logistics, including requests for quotes, transportation cost evaluations, communication with suppliers and warehouse teams (overseas), bookings for collections and deliveries. To make sure that the relevant paperwork for shipment has been received and processed compliantly for internal and external auditing purposes.
3. Working with Operations and Responsible Persons and the EU buying and Supply Chain team to support, co-ordinate and ensure the required import / export licenses, certificates and safety requirements are in place so that associated goods movements are not put at risk due to non-compliance. Help coordinate the transportation of goods from EU to GB in a timely and cost-efficient manner, working closely with the EU buying and supply chain team.
4. To communicate effectively across all departments and business units with particular focus on operations (Transport & service centres) and IT support to help ensure goods movements are tracked and linked back to the Customs team to facilitate and maintain accurate customs declarations.
5. Maintain relationships and communicate effectively with external transport companies, hauliers and customs agents to ensure that the businesses is supported in providing accurate movement & declaration information and in a cost effective way (VAT/Duty rules).
6. To understanding and build knowledge of compliance with HMRC and all border control requirements including dealing with a variety of product commodities, that the company implements all relevant legislation, especially ‘Brexit’ adherence in relation to customs needs in Import and Export (UK/EU/International trade), as directed by the EU and HMRC.
7. To understand & communicate Duty, Tariffs, and Incoterms management impacts, so that commercial teams can make the most appropriate commercial decisions across our supplier / manufacturer customer base.
8. To Support and co-ordinate processes and procedures put in place to ensure the effectiveness of the Imports & Exports team, help monitoring performance against agreed targets & ensuring day to day operational requirements are met.

We would value the following attributes:
A relevant qualification or demonstrable work experience in Logistics, Customs, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance or Legal.
Some experience or understanding of international logistics.
Fluency in an EU language is preferred.
