Federal Retirement Plan Consultant

The Position:

We are seeking motivated, detail-oriented professionals with experience in defined contribution retirement plans, recordkeeping services, research, and analysis to support the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board’s modernization and recompete of its recordkeeping services. The Federal Retirement Plan Consultant will support industry research and benchmarking, data collection and analysis, project planning, process documentation, and the development of reports, presentations, and other client deliverables. This position requires strong analytical, writing, and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to interpret complex financial, operational, market, and technical information. A successful candidate will collaborate with senior subject matter experts, agency stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to support a complex, long term acquisition serving the nation’s largest defined contribution retirement plan. Responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Support research and analysis related to defined contribution plan administration, recordkeeping services, technology, customer service, market trends, and industry practices.
  • Gather, compile, validate, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from agency, industry, and market research sources.
  • Conduct benchmarking and comparative analyses of recordkeepers, plan administrators, products, technologies, service delivery models, costs, and competitors.
  • Support current state discovery, process reviews, gap analyses, and development of future state recommendations.
  • Assist with project planning, workstream coordination, timelines, milestones, resource tracking, risks, and execution activities.
  • Develop and maintain analytical models, spreadsheets, process flows, narratives, configuration guides, and other project documentation.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, gaps, risks, opportunities, and potential conclusions.
  • Draft reports, executive summaries, presentations, charts, tables, and other client deliverables.
  • Support survey development, data collection, statistical analysis, and presentation of research findings.
  • Participate in stakeholder interviews, working sessions, requirements discussions, and project meetings.
  • Translate complex defined contribution, recordkeeping, operational, financial, and technical information into clear written materials.
  • Collaborate with senior subject matter experts and cross-functional project teams to support acquisition, transition, and strategic planning activities.
  • Review deliverables for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with client requirements.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree, relevant professional certificate, or equivalent demonstrated experience in business, technology, engineering, finance, research, or a related field.
  • Early Career Level: Minimum of 1 year of experience in the defined contribution, recordkeeping, plan administration, information technology, or a closely related industry.
  • Mid Level: Minimum of 4 years of experience in the defined contribution, recordkeeping, plan administration, information technology, or a closely related industry.
  • Senior Level: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the defined contribution, recordkeeping, plan administration, information technology, or a closely related industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of defined contribution plans, recordkeeping services, or plan administration operations.
  • Experience gathering, compiling, validating, and analyzing qualitative or quantitative data.
  • Experience using spreadsheet software to analyze information, develop models, and support project deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze problems, exercise sound judgment, and develop well supported conclusions.
  • Experience preparing written reports, presentations, charts, spreadsheets, process documentation, or other analytical deliverables.
  • Strong listening, writing, analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior subject matter experts and cross-functional project teams.
Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree in business, technology, engineering, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting complex recordkeeper or plan administrator transitions.
  • Experience conducting discovery activities, process reviews, gap analyses, market research, competitor analysis, surveys, or statistical analysis.
  • Experience developing process flows, narratives, configuration guides, executive summaries, or client presentations.
  • Knowledge of defined contribution technologies, products, market trends, financial impacts, and project management practices.
  • Experience managing portions of consulting projects or independently completing significant sections of customized client deliverables.

Censeo Consulting Group is based in Washington D.C., a fantastic city for working professionals. We work in a hybrid setting with flexibility to work from home and work in our office conveniently located in the heart of downtown, just a few blocks away from the White House. And with many of our clients also based in D.C., we have the luxury of leaving for a meeting and being back in the office in time for post-work happy hours, team dinners, and game nights.

The Fine Print:

  • The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $165,000 depending on experience
  • Expected travel 0-10%; may increase based on business needs 
  • This is an exempt, full-time position but open to part-time/contracted arrangements
  • This role is subject to a hybrid work schedule in the Washington D.C. 
  • Essential Physical Functions
    • Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time
    • Light Carrying: Physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another
