Where required, you may also act as Product Introduction (PI) Component Lead, integrating Manufacturing Engineering activities across the complete value stream and acting as the primary Manufacturing Engineering representative within the core IPT for owned parts.

What you will be doing:

  • Act as the Aerospace Procurement Manufacturing Engineering Process Lead and SPOC for business and manufacturing process changes affecting Aerospace Procurement.

  • Lead the deployment of Manufacturing Engineering functional processes and standards, including process councils, specification and standards ballots and closure of technical audit NCRs.

  • Develop Communities of Practice and Process Councils for key manufacturing and special process themes across Aerospace Procurement.

  • Support the development of the Process Champion/Local Process Lead model across AP categories.

  • Establish and deploy manufacturing process minimum standards, closing identified gaps and capturing relevant process knowledge through tools such as Knowledge Hub.

  • Drive education and capability across the AP Manufacturing Engineering community through Knowledge Hub, Lunch and Learns, Communities of Practice and other learning resources, including development of a Manufacturing/Special Process training strategy.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to support the resolution of emerging manufacturing issues, including high-profile escapes, quality plans and other technical challenges.

  • Drive effective process compliance through the Procurement Production System, including Engineering Change Control.

  • Ensure effective Product Verification and change control processes are deployed across the External Supply Chain.

  • Develop and maintain understanding of delegated PCA/LCA coverage across Aerospace Procurement and support future capability through training materials, coaching and standardised verification examples.

  • Support the development of processes and tools that enable effective and efficient governance of change control.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Labs/Materials, Central Manufacturing Engineering Process Owners, suppliers and other key stakeholders across Rolls-Royce.

  • Support wider AP Central Manufacturing Engineering projects, including obsolescence management and the development and improvement of processes delivered through Managed Service Providers.

  • Promote high standards of HSE, Product Safety and Quality within the External Supply Chain, ensuring compliance with relevant company, legislative and technical requirements.

  • Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes, digital systems and technologies, using data to demonstrate and improve manufacturing capability.

  • Plan and manage activities including schedules, resources, costs, risks and stakeholder communication to support delivery against project requirements.

  • Collaborate across teams and suppliers to resolve technical manufacturing issues, capture lessons learned and share best practice.

  • Where acting as PI Component Lead, integrate Manufacturing Engineering activity across the complete component value stream and represent the consolidated ME position within IPT meetings.

  • Continuously develop your own technical capability while providing coaching and technical support to others within your area of competence.

Position Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant engineering or manufacturing discipline).

  • Demonstrable experience of Manufacturing Engineering within an engineering, manufacturing or supply chain environment.

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and Manufacturing Engineering principles relevant to the role.

  • Experience of applying manufacturing process controls, standards and/or governance within a regulated engineering environment.

  • Ability to analyse and resolve complex manufacturing or process-related issues using a structured approach.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering teams, suppliers and other business functions.

  • General awareness of Manufacturing Systems and enabling digital/software tools relevant to the business.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Recognised national or international engineering accreditation, such as IEng or CEng, where available.

  • Experience of manufacturing and/or special processes within an External Supply Chain environment.

  • Experience of process governance, deployment, change control or continuous improvement.

  • Experience of Product Verification, PCA/LCA delegation or Engineering Change Control.

  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across suppliers, engineering teams and key stakeholders.
