Description

Summary:

We’re seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented marketing and communications specialist to own and evolve our advisor email governance and channel strategy. This role will lead the strategy, standards, and operating rhythm behind our core advisor eNews and web portal communications, ensuring the right messages reach the right audiences, at the right time. You’ll also write and edit high-quality advisor-facing content and use marketing automation tools (Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar) to deploy and optimize communications.

The Role in a Nutshell:

Supporting Manulife Canada’s insurance division, this role provides foundational B2B marketing communications support with a strong emphasis on email governance and channel ownership. You’ll be accountable for the performance and consistency of our advisor newsletter ecosystem and advisor web portal, including planning, editorial standards, stakeholder orchestration, deployment, and continuous improvement.

How Will this Come to Life?

It starts with governance: building a clear channel strategy, defining what belongs where, and creating a consistent intake-to-send process. From there, you’ll develop plans that translate business priorities into messaging, write and refine copy, coordinate reviews/approvals, and deploy communications through Salesforce Marketing Cloud automations/journeys (or equivalent).

You’ll monitor results, capture learnings, and continuously improve channel effectiveness. You’ll also work with other marketing leads who will be contributing content to these channels.

Position Responsibilities:

Email Governance & Channel Strategy (Core focus)

  • Obsess about the customer, which in our case, is advisors. You’ll have an understanding of the advisor world in order to tailor content that resonates and drives action.

  • Own advisor email governance: establish and manage standards for intake, prioritization, segmentation approach (where applicable), frequency/cadence, and content quality across the advisor newsletter stack.

  • Lead channel strategy for core advisor eNews and the advisor web portal: define channel purpose, editorial approach, content mix, and how messaging ladders up to business goals.

  • Act as the single point of accountability for newsletter and portal operations—ensuring clarity, consistency, and a strong end-to-end process.

  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing performance metrics and partnering with stakeholders to evolve content and channel effectiveness.

Content Development & Editorial Leadership:

  • Develop (i.e., write) and deliver communication plans that consider scope, tone, measurable objectives, target audiences, key messages, and calls-to-action.

  • Write and edit clear, concise, compliant messages on topics ranging from regulatory initiatives to new tools and technology that support advisors.

  • Adapt and amplify content across channels (newsletter, web portal, email announcements, etc.) while maintaining a consistent voice and message hierarchy.

  • Ensure content is accurate, on-brand, and aligned to channel strategy and governance standards.

Deployment & Martech Enablement (Salesforce Marketing Cloud):

  • Facilitate communication delivery through tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including builds, QA, scheduling, and deployments via automations/journeys (or similar capabilities in other platforms).

  • Partner with design/digital teams to ensure templates and layouts support readability, accessibility, and performance.

  • Support basic reporting and insights (e.g., engagement trends) to inform recommendations and next iterations.

Stakeholder management, process & risk:

  • Provide direction and clear briefs to internal partners including design, digital, compliance, and translations, while fostering strong relationships and shared accountability.

  • Facilitate stakeholder reviews and approvals, ensuring timelines are met and feedback is actioned appropriately.

  • Manage risk through documented review/approval processes, due diligence, and audit-friendly practices.

  • Manage competing priorities across multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality and consistency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial services, insurance, B2B marketing/communications, or demonstrated understanding of financial advisors and how they work

  • Strong writing and editing skills—able to distill complex information into clear advisor-facing messages that drive action.

  • Demonstrated experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (preferred) or similar email marketing/marketing automation platforms (e.g., Adobe Campaign, Marketo, HubSpot, Eloqua), including deployment and QA best practices.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

  • Strong research, information gathering, and analytical skills with solid follow-through.

  • Digital expertise, including familiarity with email production workflows, creative review cycles, and cross-functional coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree/diploma in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, plus 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with Office 365 and SharePoint is an asset.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.
