About the Role
The incumbent will be responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and timely financial and regulatory reporting for AIA Group and its sub-groups, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including those of the Hong Kong Insurance Authority (HKIA) and Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), as well as AIA Group accounting policies and governance standards. The role oversees quarterly and annual regulatory filings, capital reporting, IFRS reporting, and internal management reporting, supported by robust processes and strong internal controls.Drive continuous improvement in financial and regulatory reporting through process optimization, automation, enhanced controls, and insightful analysis. The role also supports reporting and deliverables for Audit Committees and Boards, provides technical guidance to Group functions and business units, and leads key reporting-related projects and change initiatives to strengthen reporting capabilities and operational effectiveness.
Act as a trusted business partner across Group Office functions and business units to ensure effective collaboration and delivery of strategic objectives, while developing team capabilities and nurturing the next generation of finance professionals to build a sustainable talent pipeline for the Group.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage the regular closing and reporting process for Group and business units
- Manage and support the deliverables of required financial statements, management financial and regulatory reports and analyses, Audit Committee and Board deliverables
- Provide analytical review and the consolidated financial results and the financial results of business units
- Ensure all the deliverables are complied with AIA Group Accounting Policies and the standards and regulations set by the regulators, HKIA, BMA and HK Stock Exchange
- Enhance Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting program, Balance Sheet Reconciliations and quarterly Certifications from business units, RCE offices and Group Management
- Support the production of Economic Capital and solvency positions on both Hong Kong and Bermuda regulatory bases,
- Support continuous process and system enhancements to drive better and faster closing process and production of deliverables together with our business units and other Group Office functions;
- Other ad hoc tasks and analyses as assigned, including participate in the roll out of various systems supporting the reporting process
- Manage projects and change initiatives relating to financial and regulatory reporting and support wider finance and corporate projects from financial and regulatory reporting perspective
- Work with the shared service center team and continue to drive our outsourcing strategy,
- Collaborate with and provide support to our business units and Group Office functions with the business partner mindset.
Job Requirements
- Degree/Master holder in finance / accounting or other business disciplines
- Qualified Accountant with regional exposure in a multinational environment
- Min 8 years strong proven managerial experience in financial reporting / 10+ years for Associated Director
- Wide exposure in life insurance industry
- Strong communicator (verbal and written) with strong leadership to manage a sizable team
- Ability to support multi stakeholder information needs
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Fluency in both written and spoken English
- Proficiency in SAP, IFRS and HKICO a plus
