Job Description

As a valued member of our healthcare team, you'll play an important role in supporting patient care, promoting safety, and helping patients maintain their independence and well-being. You'll work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and the clinical team while providing care that respects every patient's rights, choices, and individual needs. ❤️ 

 

👩‍⚕️ Your role matters! From monitoring and documenting patient data to assisting with activities of daily living, you'll be there to support our patients every step of the way. You'll use your clinical skills, communicate important information, and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for everyone. 

 

 What You’ll Do: 

Actively participates and completes the UH Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training program. 

Monitors and documents patient data. Communicates information to the Registered Nurse in a timely and collaborative manner. 

Demonstrates competency while performing and assisting with patient care procedures/practices. Collects, handles and transports specimens/equipment in accordance with departmental guidelines. 

Assists with patient care needs and activities of daily living to promote patient self-care and adoption of healthy habits. 

Practices clinical skills which have been assessed for competency while demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the clinical area assigned. (Departmental addendum.) 

Provides care in a manner that respects the patient’s rights and choices in a multi-cultural setting.  

Promotes patient safety in a clean, clutter free work area. 

Provides service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient’s age; demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. 

Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and by personal performance. 

Presents a courteous and helpful demeanor, appropriate for age, to all patients, visitors, other employees/medical staff members, or any other person an employee encounters while representing the organization. 

Maintains current knowledge related to applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines and standards necessary to perform job duties in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Plan. Complies with the requirements of the Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Plan and Compliance Policies and Procedures, including training requirements. Participates in compliance activities under the direction of the Department Manager and Corporate Compliance Officer. 

 

 

🧠 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 

Minimum Requirements: 

 High school diploma or GED. 

 BCLS certification completed within 30 days of hire; certification must be kept current for continued employment. 

 Ability to read and complete necessary documentation legibly. 

 Completes all competency training and education within 90 days of hire.
