Quality Inspector

Position Summary
Assures product quality of bottles produced by production by inspecting the finished product for defects. Inspection is performed using automated equipment, visual inspector, and customer requirements.
Essential Functions
- Provide visual, aesthetic, and quantifiable inspection of product
- Insures product meets or exceeds customer’s specifications
- Insures that line changes are performed according to specifications
- Performs SOR qualifications;
- Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)
- Other duties as assigned
PPE Required – Requirements are proper hearing protection, safety glasses (prescription if required), steel-toed shoes, hairnet, beard net (if employee has chin hair greater than 1/8 inch).
Authorities:
- Perform essential functions and assigned duties while communicating any deviations from the requirements to management
- Report any safety concerns to management and to shut down any equipment that presents a safety hazard
- To identify a potential nonconforming situation and initiated AVO and/or begin the nonconforming Product process by containing and identifying product for reselection
Qualification Requirements
- Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Information Ordering -- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
- Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Extent Flexibility -- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
- Wrist-Finger Speed -- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Multilimbed Coordination -- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
- Lifting Requirements -- Ability to lift 30 pounds over head to total height of six feet
- Walking/Standing---Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 12 hours per day.
- Knowledge of quality procedures --- Ability to discern quality defects and remove defected product from the line and/or contain the product according to established containment procedures and quality protocol. Knowledge of plastic bottle defect requirements and quality procedures. Previous experience using laboratory equipment.
- Team work – ability to work effectively on a cross-functional team in order to satisfy customer requirements.
Position Hours
- Assigned 12-hour schedule
- Schedule rotates as follows: two days on, two days off, three days on, two days off, etc.
- Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work required
Organization Relationships
- Report directly to Quality Manager for purposes of scheduling, performance evaluation, and compensation assessment
- Indirectly reports to Shift Supervisor for product requirements, quality requirements, and overall departmental goals;
