This position serves as the primary point of contact for guests, renters, campers, and community members. The Building Attendant operates the front desk, answers questions by telephone and in person, assists with camping reservations, and provides accurate information about Tooele County Parks & Recreation facilities, programs, events, and policies.
During evening and weekend shifts, the Building Attendant may work independently and is entrusted with monitoring and securing the complex. The successful candidate will remain calm under pressure, use sound judgment, respond appropriately to unexpected or emergency situations, and know when additional assistance is needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the welcoming and professional first point of contact for visitors, renters, campers, and callers.
- Work at the front desk and provide helpful, accurate information about The Peak Sports & Entertainment Complex, including facilities, activities, events, rental spaces, camping, and policies.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to questions, and direct inquiries to the appropriate person or department when needed.
- Assist customers of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities with patience, courtesy, and respect.
- Support renters and facility users by answering questions, communicating expectations, and helping create a positive customer experience.
- Monitor activity throughout the complex and ensure that patrons understand and follow facility rules, safety requirements, and Parks and Recreation policies.
- Conduct regular rounds of buildings and grounds, particularly during evening shifts, to identify safety, security, maintenance, or policy concerns.
- Complete facility closing and security procedures, including checking designated areas and reporting unusual activity or concerns.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to conflicts, facility problems, and emergency situations according to established procedures.
- Assess situations, use sound judgment and common sense, contact supervisors or emergency services when appropriate, and accurately document incidents.
- Handle cash and complete transactions in accordance with established cash-handling policies and procedures.
- Assist with light cleaning, minor maintenance needs, room setup, and special projects as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and general work area.
- Communicate important information clearly and promptly to supervisors, coworkers, renters, and the public.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.

- Basic proficiency in reading, writing, recordkeeping, and interpersonal communication.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and by telephone.
- Ability to learn and accurately explain facility services, schedules, reservation procedures, fees, rules, and policies.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, renters, patrons, and members of the public.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service while appropriately and respectfully enforcing facility policies.
- Ability to work independently with limited on-site supervision.
- Ability to recognize safety or security concerns and respond according to established procedures.
- Ability to think clearly, exercise sound judgment, and maintain self-control under pressure.

Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and moving throughout a large, complex facility. The employee must be able to regularly lift and move items weighing approximately 25-50 pounds and perform light cleaning, facility setup, and related operational duties.
Work Schedule and Environment
This position requires a flexible schedule that may include:
- Evening and nighttime hours
- Saturdays and Sundays
- Holidays
- Special events
- Periods of independent work with limited on-site supervision
Building Attendants may be responsible for monitoring and securing the facility at night. Applicants must be comfortable working independently in this environment and responding appropriately to routine concerns, unexpected situations, and emergencies.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director or designated supervisor.
