Job Description: CTO & Senior Director, APAC Technical Sales
Role Purpose
The CTO & Senior Director, APAC Technical Sales is a senior executive leadership role responsible for defining and executing the technical vision, pre‑sales strategy, and solutions architecture leadership across APAC. This role leads the regional Technical Sales organization (Solutions Consultants and Technical Specialists teams), partners closely with Sales, Product, Services, and Partners, and acts as the regional technology authority and customer-facing technology executive.
Key Responsibilities
APAC Technology & Solutions Strategy (CTO Accountability)
- Define and own the APAC technology vision and technical go-to-market strategy, aligned with global strategy.
- Act as the regional Chief Technologist, translating Hitachi Vantara’s platform, data, and infrastructure strategy into compelling customer-facing value propositions.
- Provide executive-level technology leadership to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, including CIO/CTO/CISO-level engagements.
- Guide innovation, emerging technology adoption, and architectural best practices across:
- Data Infrastructure & Hybrid Cloud
- Storage, Compute, and Converged Infrastructure
- Data Protection, Resiliency & Cyber Recovery
- Analytics, AI/ML enablement, and industry platforms
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering to influence roadmap priorities based on APAC customer, industry, and regulatory needs.
Regional Technical Sales Leadership
- Build and sustain a high-performing, diverse, and future-ready APAC Technical Sales organization.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and succession planning for senior technical leaders and high-potential talent.
- Actively role-model Hitachi Vantara values, leadership principles, and cultural expectations.
- Partner with APAC Sales Leadership to align technical strategy with sales priorities, pipeline coverage, and revenue targets.
- Own the technical sales operating model, including:
- Resource and capacity planning
- Coverage and specialization strategy
- Skills development and certification priorities
- Technical win strategies against competitors
- Drive consistent, high-quality technical executions across complex and strategic opportunities
Customer, Partner & Ecosystem Engagement
- Serve as an executive sponsor and strategic technology advisor to key enterprise and strategic accounts (CIOs, CTOs, CDOs).
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers to ensure deep understanding of:
- Business and industry challenges
- Technology investment drivers
- Regulatory and data residency requirements
- Collaborate with Partner, Alliances, and Channel leaders to ensure:
- Effective partner technical enablement
- Joint solution development and co‑selling
- Identification and validation of qualified technical partner
Operational Excellence & Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Define and optimize technical sales processes, tools, and metrics, including the effective use of SFDC.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across the region.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives spanning Sales, Services, Product, Marketing, and Finance.
- Ensure close alignment between pre-sales strategy and post-sales delivery execution, working in partnership with Services leadership
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep expertise in enterprise IT infrastructure architectures.
- Strong understanding of industry solutions, competitive landscapes, and technology buying behaviors.
- Proven experience shaping and executing technical sales go-to-market strategies.
- Demonstrated success leading large, geographically distributed, multi-cultural technical teams
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence C‑level customers and senior internal stakeholders
- Advanced negotiation, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills
- Experience operating in high-growth, fast-changing environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 15+ years of enterprise technology or technical sales experience
- 5+ years leading senior technical or pre‑sales organizations at a regional or global level
