Spot Welder Operator

Description

The spot welder operator is responsible for setting up and safely operating spot weld machines, and to spot weld metal parts, components or assemblies.

PRINCIPAL   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The   responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Operate spotwelder (single/multi-head)

· Ensure equipment is set up properly according to specifications

· Check and test welds

· Clean tips when necessary

· Complete coupon tests after every tip change

· Complete all paperwork and data entry as required

· Perform other duties as assigned by Lead Hand or Supervisor 

· Produce quality welds as per drawings/work instructions and customer requirements

· Follow work instructions, read drawings and maintain standard times

· Check and test welds as per department procedures and quality standards

· General housekeeping and day to day tool maintenance to ensure equipment is working properly

· Complete all paperwork and data entry as required

· Follow all ISO procedures and maintain quality standards

· Follow all safety procedures and policies 

· Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Lead Hand

Requirements

  · High school diploma or GED is required.

· Passing a qualified Welding Test and class-appropriate level of experience is required.

· Higher vocational welding background is preferred but not required.

· Experience in machine operation in a manufacturing environment is required.

· An ability to operate and set up square as per work instructions is required.

· An ability to follow written and verbal instructions is required.

· An ability to accurately measure and read measuring tape is required.

· An ability to complete paperwork and data entry is required.

· An ability to read drawings to ensure the part is to run according to specifications and work instructions is required.

· Working the first or second shift and weekends and overtime as needed is required.

· Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is preferred but not required.

· A focus on safe working procedures is required.

· An ability to follow Supervisor and Managers instructions and help in other departments as needed is required.

· The ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality is required.

· The ability to remain organized with a keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment is required. 

· The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines utilizing excellent time management skills is required.

· Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are required.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

· This position is a manufacturing role with most of the work performed in our shop, which is a heavy construction and fabrication environment. 

· Must be able to withstand at least 10 hours of standing and walking. 

· Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, stoop, squat, and crawl into awkward spaces. 

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include natural or corrected close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

· Long hours in the shop require fine dexterity use of hands/fingers for sustained periods of time.

· Must possess the ability to work in a team environment with regular and predictable attendance.

· Must be able to tolerate exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment. 

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.

· Must be able to follow all safety protocols.
