The Role
As the Director, Data Platform DevOps Engineering, you blend deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, automation, and software delivery with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering talent. You are committed to building highly reliable, secure, and scalable technology platforms that accelerate business outcomes and improve the developer experience.
In an agile structure, you will collaborate with Product Area Leaders, Architects, Engineering Leaders, and Engineering teams to establish DevOps and platform engineering standards, define strategic direction, and drive our Data Platform’s adoption of modern engineering practices. You are dedicated to helping others grow their technical and leadership capabilities while ensuring alignment on engineering excellence, automation, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
10+ years of experience delivering and operating large-scale enterprise technology platforms with increasing leadership responsibility
Proven experience leading DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Cloud Infrastructure teams
Deep expertise in CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure
Experience leading Kubernetes, containerization, and modern application platform initiatives
Experience driving Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM), platform modernization, and operational resiliency programs
Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident management practices
Experience implementing security best practices across infrastructure and software delivery pipelines
Strong stakeholder management and organizational navigation skills
Demonstrated ability to influence engineering strategy across multiple business and technology organizations
Critical thinking skills and experience operating in Agile delivery environments
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and execution capabilities
Financial Services experience preferred

Define and execute the DevOps and platform engineering roadmap in partnership with engineering and business leaders
Establish standards, best practices, and governance for CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, cloud operations, and platform reliability
Drive automation initiatives that improve developer productivity, operational efficiency, and deployment quality
Lead cloud infrastructure, observability, resiliency, and operational excellence programs across the organization
Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and Engineering leaders to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available technology platforms
Remove organizational and technical impediments that impact team effectiveness and delivery
Champion a culture of continuous improvement through metrics, automation, engineering excellence, and operational insights
Ensure systems meet reliability, security, compliance, performance, and scalability objectives
Communicate strategy, priorities, progress, and outcomes effectively to executive stakeholders and technology leadership
Foster innovation and adoption of emerging DevOps, cloud, and platform engineering practices to support the organization's long-term technology vision
Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and customer-centric outcomes
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
