Description

This is a HANDS-ON position. If you love leading by doing and working directly with customers, then this is the job for you. This job requires approximately 20% travel to support existing and new customers with plastic film machinery and equipment. You must be able to travel within the United States and have no felony convictions.


Education and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years within manufacturing environment

• Experience with plastic manufacturing processes and their tooling (e.g. blow molding, thermal forming, vacuum forming, compression molding, slush molding)

• Familiarity with industry codes and standards related to plastics manufacturing

•Understanding of food safety and/or MIOSHA regulatory standards preferred

•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

•Impeccable communication, presentation and organizational skills

Requirements

Primary Job Duties

•Travel to existing customers’ location to troubleshoot machinery and provide suggestions to improve operational efficiencies. This includes moving and/or setting up machines in customers’ facilities.

•Conduct recommendations to existing and new customers on the development of new and improved manufacturing equipment for plastic film

•Set up and manage spare parts inventory

•Purchase required spare parts

•Train customers on machine operation, maintenance, wear and tear part replacement

•Create instructional manuals for machine operation/part replacement

•Proactive communication with customers on their needs or wants

•Create comprehensive quotes for customers for parts, and service to include time, materials, travel expenses, per diem, etc.

•Lead machine upgrade projects, which includes determining current state of machine targeted for upgrade

•Continually communicate to customer the status of machine upgrade or repair

•Secure approval from customer for additional repairs or upgrades that are determined to be needed while working on equipment

•Ensure that upgrades and repairs are uploaded to tracking system

•Investigate and propose plans to increase repairs and upgrades resulting in increased field sales

•Lead for control upgrades; assist with mechanical upgrades and repairs

•Controls faults, mechanical faults, facility faults


Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities include the following:


Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.


Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.


English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.


Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.


Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. This job will update controls in the field.


Technical Skills

•Equipment Maintenance- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

•Equipment Selection- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

•Operation and Control- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.

•Operations Analysis- Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design.

•Operations Monitoring- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

• Programming- Writing computer programs for various purposes.

• Repairing- Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.

• Technology Design- Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.

•Troubleshooting- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.


Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.


Activities

Systems Evaluation - Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.


Systems Analysis - Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.


Science - Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems.


Operations Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.


Operations Analysis - Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design.


Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.


Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.


Computer Skills Ability to utilize computer programs for scheduling, statistical analysis, etc. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. Ability to effectively use the internet for applicable research.

•Travel to customer sites using your personal vehicle, rental vehicle, or via plane.
