Position Details:
  • Job Title: Web Press 2nd Operator
  • Department: Offset Press
  • Location: Rochester Tech Park, 2332 Innovation Way, Bldg 4, Rochester, NY 14624 **Must have reliable transportation** 
  • Schedule:  Full-time, C Shift, 11:00pm - 7:00am, Sunday - Thursday
  • Pay: $23 - $29 per hour. Final compensation is based on experience.
    • Plus, receive an additional $0.75 per hour shift differential & paid meal breaks.
  • Job Summary: The Web 2nd Operator is responsible for assisting the 1st Operator on the ManRoland Lithoman web press setup, operation, maintenance, and press crew activities to produce high-quality printed materials efficiently and accurately for our clients.  
  • Manager/Supervisory Role: No
  • Reports To: Offset Manager
  • Duties/Expectations: While duties may vary from day to day, below is a list of general duties you can expect in this role.
    • Perform basic RIMA setup and adjustments, understand and operate the RIMA and Log Stacker.
    • Responsible for webbing up the folder superstructure correctly and safely, perform basic folder setups and adjustments.
    • Accurately applies job ticket information to the setup/order (i.e. quantity, stock, ink, special instructions, etc.)
    • Assists setting up and troubleshooting the press to ensure optimal production performance (i.e. input production settings controlling automated printing systems, performs configurations / adjustments, etc.)
    • Collects and inspects samples during print runs to ensure quality standards and job accuracy (i.e. proofs for ink coverage / density, alignment, registration, etc.) and makes any adjustments if needed
    • Performs all press maintenance to sustain optimal performance and prevent disruptions (acts as the point person for maintenance, regularly adjusts/cleans/lubricates press following manufacturer guidelines, etc.)
    • Successfully identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves all press issues to minimize downtime/quality concerns
    • Sets up the press to ensure optimal production performance (i.e. input production settings controlling automated printing systems, performs configurations / adjustments, etc.)
    • Proficiently operates the press for smooth job execution (i.e. consistent press monitoring, maintains the correct pressure and registration between the plates and ink to obtain a clean and clear impression, etc.)
    • Responsible for consistently meeting production volumes and quality control standards while minimizing errors and maintaining accurate production, maintenance and time records.
    • Communicates efficiently and professionally with manufacturer, management and crew members
    • General housekeeping, cleans and maintains work area as needed
    • Continuously work to develop skills / knowledge and complete all training required by the company
    • Be a team player, communicate clearly and respectfully and maintain a positive attitude
    • Be dependable, reliable, and consistently perform high quality work meeting company production standards
    • Create a safe and hazard free work environment; follow safety protocols and report any risks
    • Performs other duties as needed / assigned, and adhere to all company and department policies and procedures. 

What we are looking for:
  • Position Qualifications: You MUST Have Web/Offset press experience.
    • Work Experience: Must have proven printing press operator experience. ManRoland or Heidelberg press and crew leadership experience is highly preferred. Forklift and/or electric pallet jack experience is preferred.
    • Knowledge/Skills: Must have thorough knowledge of press operations and quality control. Strong computer and problem solving, attention to detail, and effective communication required. Understanding of OSHA/LSS/ISO is preferred.
    • Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
    • Must be of legal working age and eligible to work in the U.S. 
  • Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
    • Works indoors in a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility and will be exposed to loud sounds, hazardous chemicals, and equipment on the production floor. Must have the ability to bend, lift and carry up to 40 lbs.; stand/walk on hard surfaces for extended periods; complete repetitive tasks; operate computers and/or machines (dexterity, bend, stretch, reach, climb, crouch, etc.); and communicate effectively. *Reasonable accommodations may be available upon request.
