Speech-Language Pathologist - Full Time Days
Department: Speech PathologySchedule: Full-Time, Days
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Working collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams, this role develops and implements individualized treatment plans to improve communication, cognition, swallowing function, and overall quality of life. The Speech-Language Pathologist also supports program development and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance rehabilitation services and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician orders and clinical assessments.
- Provide evidence-based therapy to improve communication, cognitive functioning, and swallowing abilities.
- Perform clinical swallowing evaluations and recommend appropriate interventions, diets, and treatment strategies.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans, progress, and home exercise programs.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital, regulatory, and professional standards.
- Participate in department initiatives, program development, quality improvement activities, and ongoing professional education.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
- Active state Speech-Language Pathology license in good standing.
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) through ASHA, or eligibility as a Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (SLP-CF) with appropriate supervision.
- Minimum one (1) year of hospital-based Speech-Language Pathology experience.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
- Strong knowledge of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders across diverse patient populations.
- Excellent communication, patient education, and clinical documentation skills.
Preferred
- Experience working in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, or hospital-based rehabilitation settings.
- Experience with bedside swallow evaluations and dysphagia management.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary rehabilitation and discharge planning processes.
