The Nursing Excellence Coordinator provides administrative, operational, and project coordination support to the Nursing Education and Professional Practice Department. The role coordinates activities that advance nursing excellence initiatives, including Magnet® readiness, professional governance, nursing education, research and evidence-based practice, nurse residency accreditation, clinical ladder administration, and nursing outcome reporting.Serving as a central resource for data collection, report preparation, meeting coordination, document management, and project tracking, the coordinator collaborates with nursing leadership, educators, quality teams, and professional governance councils to support successful execution of strategic nursing initiatives and a culture of professional nursing excellence.
Education/Training:
- Associate degree required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Education, Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Organizational Leadership, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant healthcare, administrative, project coordination, or data management experience may be considered.
Licenses/Certification:
- N/A
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of two (2) years of administrative, project coordination, healthcare operations, or data management experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
- Strong database management, reporting, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to create dashboards, reports, and presentations.
- Strong written and verbal communication and document preparation skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to work independently while managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in healthcare, nursing, education, quality, professional practice, or accreditation environments.
- Experience supporting committees, councils, or organizational initiatives.
- Knowledge of the Magnet Recognition Program® and nursing professional governance structures.
- Experience supporting nursing education or professional development programs.
- Experience with accreditation, regulatory, or performance improvement activities.
- Knowledge of healthcare quality indicators and nursing-sensitive outcomes.
- Experience with data visualization and dashboard development.
Essential Duties:
Administrative & Operational Support
• Provide administrative support for the Nursing Education Department.
• Coordinate calendars, meetings, council activities, educational programs, and special projects.
• Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, reports, presentations, and follow-up documentation.
• Maintain department records, databases, policy repositories, and electronic filing systems.
• Coordinate logistics for educational programs, nursing events, leadership meetings, and recognition activities.
• Assist with budget tracking, supply management, and department purchasing processes.
Nursing Excellence Coordination
• Support organizational Magnet readiness efforts by coordinating documentation, evidence collection, and project timelines.
• Maintain Magnet evidence files and supporting documentation.
• Track activities aligned with Magnet domains: Transformational Leadership; Structural Empowerment; Exemplary Professional Practice; New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvements; and Empirical Outcomes.
• Assist with Magnet document submissions, presentations, and site visit readiness activities.
• Coordinate nursing excellence recognition and professional practice initiatives.
Data Management & Reporting
• Collect, organize, validate, and maintain nursing-related data.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reports supporting nursing strategic goals.
• Track professional development metrics, certification rates, clinical ladder participation, and nursing outcome measures.
• Compile reports related to workforce engagement, retention, turnover, professional governance participation, and educational outcomes.
• Assist leadership with data analysis and presentation preparation for committees, councils, and executive leadership.
Professional Governance Support
• Coordinate Professional Governance Council meetings and activities.
• Maintain council membership rosters, bylaws, charters, and meeting documentation.
• Track council goals, action plans, outcomes, and organizational impact.
• Assist in preparing annual reports demonstrating shared governance effectiveness.
Nursing Research, Evidence-Based Practice & Innovation
• Support nursing research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Track project milestones, submissions, presentations, and publications.
• Coordinate communication among researchers, educators, council members, and external partners.
• Maintain records of research studies, abstracts, posters, and scholarly activities.
Nurse Residency & Professional Development Support
• Assist with administrative coordination of the Nurse Residency Program and other nursing professional development initiatives.
• Maintain participant records, attendance, evaluations, and program metrics.
• Support accreditation readiness activities and documentation requirements.
• Coordinate leadership development, mentorship, certification, preceptor, and clinical ladder programs.

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
