Summary
The Drug Diversion Technician will work collaboratively with the Diversion Specialist and will be responsible for assisting in managing the drug diversion program in order to prevent diversion. The role will be involved in any controlled substance activity at assigned sites in order to assure the pharmacy is meeting all regulatory requirements of the Controlled Substance Act.

Job Duties
  • Assist the diversion specialist in managing the drug diversion program, including creating and maintaining policies, procedures, and training and education programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct regular audits of medication storage areas, prescription records, dispensing and recordkeeping to ensure no gaps or deficiencies exist
  • Collaborate with diversion specialist, pharmacy personnel, nursing leadership and other healthcare providers and regulatory bodies to ensure the program is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Identify potential drug diversion incidents and assist with investigations as necessary.
  • Utilize the diversion surveillance software to trend data, educate staff, and investigate potential diversion incidents.
  • Stay current with updates and changes to laws, regulations, and best practices related drug diversion.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year Hospital or Retail pharmacy experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail oriented
  • CPhT - Certified Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years hospital or retail with a focus on controlled substances
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to drug diversion

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
