Cincinnati Children’s is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse II to join our growing ambulatory outreach team at our Centerville location.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pediatric nurse who enjoys providing exceptional patient care while also serving as a clinical leader, resource, and support for the ambulatory team.
This patient-facing role plays an important part in ensuring children and families receive compassionate, coordinated, and high-quality care close to home. The Centerville RN will help support daily clinic operations while partnering with nurses, medical assistants, physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Access is a key organizational priority, and clinic schedules may evolve to support the needs of our patients and families. Clinic schedules may vary by division, with some clinics beginning earlier or ending later based on patient care needs. Flexibility in daily clinic hours will be important as we continue to expand and optimize ambulatory services.

What You'll Do
As the Centerville Registered Nurse, you will:
Provide Exceptional Patient Care
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered pediatric nursing care.
- Assess patient needs and provide appropriate nursing interventions within scope of practice.
- Promote safe, efficient, and timely patient care throughout the clinic day.
- Build meaningful relationships with children and families while providing compassionate care close to home.
Serve as a Clinical Leader & Resource
- Serve as a clinical leader and resource for the ambulatory nursing team.
- Support staff with clinical questions, patient care concerns, and escalation of issues.
- Promote consistent nursing practice and adherence to Cincinnati Children’s standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to nurses and medical assistants as appropriate.
- Support onboarding, orientation, education, and development of nursing and medical assistant staff.
Support Clinic Operations
- Support daily clinic operations, patient flow, staffing, and assignment needs.
- Assist with coordinating care and resolving clinical or operational barriers.
- Help ensure appropriate communication and coordination across ambulatory divisions.
- Promote a positive and efficient patient and family experience.
- Adapt to changing clinic volumes and patient care needs.
Advance Patient Access
- Support organizational efforts to improve access to pediatric specialty care.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, patient access, quality, and the overall patient and family experience.
- Collaborate with clinic leadership and interdisciplinary teams to address operational barriers.
- Provide flexibility as clinic schedules evolve to meet patient care needs and access goals.
Collaborate Across the Ambulatory Network
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Support continuity and coordination of care across ambulatory divisions.
- Float to Liberty and Mason locations when staffing needs require additional support.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current RN II or RN III.
- Current Ohio Registered Nurse license; multistate licensure will be required for Kentucky practice, as applicable.
- Experience providing pediatric nursing care.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership or charge nurse experience.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing clinic volumes, staffing needs, and patient care priorities.
- Ability to provide flexible scheduling support as clinic hours evolve to meet patient access needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous ambulatory pediatric nursing experience.
- Previous nursing or clinical leadership experience.
- Experience working across multiple pediatric specialties or ambulatory settings.
- Experience supporting clinic operations, patient flow, or staff development.
- Experience serving as a clinical resource or charge nurse.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compliance - Patient Services Staff - Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
- Interprofessional Practice - Demonstrates consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) in all aspects of practice.
- Clinical inquiry & performance review to improve practice - Follows standards and guidelines; implements clinical changes and research-based practices developed by others; recognizes the need for further learning to improve patient care; recognizes routine or obvious changing patient situation (e.g., deterioration, crisis); in unusual care situations, seeks help when needed to identify patient problem. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate/Diploma prepared RNs from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution requires 2+ years of experience. If hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire date/RN job date and complete program within 5 years of hire/RN job date.
- Preferred: BSN from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution or MSN are preferred.
- Active Ohio RN License. May be required to obtain other state licensure.
- 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
