We are seeking a hard-working, innovative, detail-oriented and creative team player to join our Aptive team! This is a full-time Technical Director, Integrations position located in Provo, Utah. This individual will own the integration and middleware layer that connects our platforms — the systems that move data and events between our customer applications, communications stack, and internal services. You will lead the team responsible for the middleware that sits between providers like Twilio and our applications (Genesys, the Field Service App, Messaging, and Cresta), the APIs that power our AI containment and self-serve experiences, and the integrations into our Aspyn data and platform ecosystem. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will set integration standards, manage a team of engineers, and be accountable for the reliability, security, and scalability of the connective tissue that keeps Aptive's systems talking to each other.

What we offer:

  • $215k
  • Annual Merit bonus of up to 20%
  • Group Health, Dental, and Vision plans
  • Pet insurance, Life insurance, and EAP benefits
  • 401K with employer match up to 4%
  • Paid holidays and paid time off
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Upbeat and exciting company culture and much more!

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Aptive's integration and middleware platform — the services that broker data and events between customer apps, communications providers, and internal systems.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of integration/middleware engineers; set priorities, review designs, and drive delivery.
  • Own the middleware between Twilio and Aptive applications (Genesys, FSA, Messaging, Cresta), including SMS/voice routing and the shared services that new functionality is built on.
  • Drive the API and integration work behind higher AI containment rates and self-serve customer experiences, keeping new functionality on a consistent, well-governed middleware layer.
  • Define and enforce integration standards — API design, event/message contracts, versioning, error handling, retries, and idempotency.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, and vendor teams to scope and deliver integrations that meet business and compliance needs.
  • Own reliability and observability for the integration layer: monitoring, alerting, SLAs/SLOs, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure integrations meet Aptive's security and compliance requirements (PCI, SOC 2, data-handling), partnering with Security.
  • Manage third-party and vendor integrations end to end — evaluation, onboarding, contracts/technical requirements, and ongoing health.
  • Maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and architecture records for all integration surfaces.
  • Balance build-vs-buy and manage the integration backlog, budget, and delivery commitments.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in software/integration engineering, with 2+ years leading or managing an engineering team.
  • Deep hands-on experience designing and operating integration/middleware platforms — APIs, message queues, event streaming, and webhooks.
  • Strong command of API design and integration patterns (REST, webhooks, pub/sub, async messaging, retries, idempotency, versioning).
  • Proven experience integrating third-party providers (e.g., communications platforms such as Twilio, contact-center/CCaaS, or payments) into production systems.
  • Track record owning reliability of integration systems — monitoring, alerting, SLAs, and incident/root-cause leadership.
  • Solid grasp of security and compliance in data integrations (authN/authZ, secrets handling, PCI/SOC 2 awareness).
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to align technical teams and business stakeholders.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with contact-center / communications ecosystems (Genesys, Twilio, Cresta) and AI-driven customer experiences.
  • Experience building integrations against a modern data platform (Aptive's Aspyn ecosystem, or similar warehouse/lakehouse + API layer).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native deployment (containers, CI/CD, IaC) and API gateway / iPaaS tooling.
  • Background in field-service, subscription, or high-volume consumer operations.
  • Hands-on scripting/development (Python, Node/TypeScript, or similar) to stay close to the work.
