What You Will Do:
The Events Associate is a member of the BCNC Arts Center team. Arts Center strengthens communities by promoting health and wellness through arts, education, and creative programs. You will create opportunities for individuals to build strong connections and harness their power to improve their communities. You will ensure that Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voices and stories are heard and celebrated. You will report directly to the Performance and Theatre Program Manager.

In this role, you will:
  • Oversee aspects of event set-up to ensure a smooth and timely execution for rentals and Pao Arts Center-hosted events (performances, exhibitions, and other public/private).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for renters throughout their rental period, working closely with the Theatre Program Manager to ensure renters are well supported during their rental period.
  • Greet, usher, and provide direction to vendors and guests upon arrival.
  • Prioritize event-related tasks and manage volunteers, logistics, and timelines throughout the event.
  • Resolve any issues or complaints that arise during the event in a professional and timely manner.
  • Oversee post-event operations, including clean-up, evaluation of event success, and restoration of the Pao Arts Center to its original condition.
  • Ensure the protection and preservation of the space, including any artwork displayed in the gallery.
  • Coordinate with staff, rental clients, house managers, and event staff to ensure timely venue access and event start times.
  • Set up and manage the audio-visual system in accordance with client specifications.
  • Enforce the organization’s policies with rental clients, patrons, and audience members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What We Look For:
  • One or more years of prior experience in event management preferred; familiarity with audio-visual systems is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and interact with diverse individuals professionally.
  • Friendly, welcoming, and customer-focused, with a commitment to providing excellent service to the public.
  • Positive, reliable, and hardworking, with the flexibility to adapt in dynamic or high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

What We Offer:
  • Paid sick time.
  • Retirement plan with employer matching.

Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday.
  • This position involves performing essential job functions in typical work environments, including but not limited to offices, classrooms, or community settings. Duties may require routine movement such as walking, standing, and bending. Depending on the role, responsibilities may also include the ability to move items weighing up to 25–50 pounds, and the use of computer equipment and effective communication. All essential functions can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Please Note
You must be authorized to work in the United States. BCNC does not provide sponsorship for an employment work visa.
