Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. KLA’s Optical Metrology Division (OMD) delivers advanced systems for optical overlay metrology, combining hardware and software to boost yield and efficiency. Known for industry-leading accuracy, reliability, and integration, these tools are trusted by major semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

Your responsibilities:

• Design and further develop opto-mechanical assemblies for laser-sustained-plasma (LSP) light sources based on defined requirement specifications

• High precision optomechanical engineering, including tolerance and thermal-expansion analyses

• Create 3D models, derive manufacturing-ready technical drawings and maintain bills of materials

• Independently build, align, test and troubleshoot prototypes on the test bench – on site and together with internal partners

• Define suitable materials, surface and joining processes as well as inspection criteria for incoming goods quality control

• Collaborate closely with suppliers on technical details, cost and lead times to shorten procurement cycles

• Perform FEM simulations (eigenfrequencies, static/thermal deformation) and tolerance analyses to de-risk the design

• Contribute to design reviews and safety testing and prepare technical documentation and presentations

Minimum Qualifications

Your profile:

• Completed degree in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Physical Engineering or a comparable field

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in mechanical / precision engineering, ideally with a focus on opto-mechanical design

• Strong hands-on mentality: practical experience in building, aligning and testing prototypes; experience in metalworking is an advantage

• Solid understanding of precision fits, tolerance stack-ups and the thermal behavior of optical assemblies

• Proficient with 3D CAD software Creo and/or SolidWorks and the associated databases Intralink or SolidWorks PDM / Enovia

• Experience with FEM / tolerance analyses and a systematic, solution-oriented and pragmatic way of working
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); German is an advantage
• Occasional domestic and international travel, including to the United States, may be required as part of this role
