A Brief Overview
Assumes responsibility and accountability for patients undergoing image-guided interventional radiology procedures. Provides professional nursing care including assessment, medication administration, moderate sedation, and clinical monitoring while assisting physicians using sterile technique. Performs duties during scheduled hours and participates in IR on-call coverage. Nursing practice is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the Stormont Vail Health Professional Practice Model.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Experience in Interventional Radiology, critical care, emergency, or procedural nursing. Required
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates competency in acute care nursing psychomotor skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of patient safety, legal, and ethical standards of nursing practice.
- Effectively communicates using verbal, written, and non-verbal methods.
- Performs accurate medication-related mathematical calculations.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse - KSBN
- Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on the department within 90 days of hire date.
- Other RQI trainings may be required depending on the department within 90 days of hire date.
What you will do
- Provides direct nursing care in accordance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
- Performs patient assessment and continuous monitoring before, during, and after IR procedures.
- Administers medications, including moderate sedation, per physician orders and policy.
- Assists physicians during IR procedures utilizing sterile technique.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
- Recognizes and responds to changes in patient condition or procedural complications.
- Documents nursing assessments, interventions, medications, and procedural support accurately.
- Participates in IR on-call rotation for emergent procedures.
- Demonstrates professional nursing practice guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring.
- Promotes effective communication and a respectful, collaborative work environment.
- Precepts and mentors staff and students as assigned.
- Participates in shared governance, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
