Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Vice President of IT - Generation, Transmission & Distribution to lead the strategy, development, implementation, operations, and support of technology solutions that power the company's core utility operations and asset-intensive businesses. This executive will provide enterprise leadership for information technology platforms supporting Generation, Transmission, and Distribution and related operational functions. The role will also oversee technology readiness activities associated with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and major business transformation initiatives.The SVP is accountable for the strategy, delivery, operations, and business outcomes of the technology portfolio supporting Generation, Transmission, and Distribution. This leader will drive digital transformation, operational excellence, reliability, safety, and workforce productivity while serving as a strategic partner to business executives across the enterprise.
Job Description
What You'll Do:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy supporting Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and related business functions.
- Establish an enterprise-wide digital roadmap that advances operational excellence, business performance, grid modernization, generation optimization, and long-term enterprise objectives.
- Align technology investments with strategic priorities, regulatory requirements, cybersecurity standards, and measurable business outcomes.
- Lead modernization initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, resiliency, asset performance, operational efficiency, and workforce productivity.
- Identify and assess emerging technologies that create competitive advantages and support the evolution of a more intelligent, connected, and sustainable utility.
Technology Leadership & Expertise
Provide executive oversight of technology platforms supporting:
- Generation Operations and Asset Performance
- Transmission and Distribution Operations
- GIS and Network Modeling
- Engineering and Design Systems
- Construction and Capital Project Management
- Grid Planning and Analytics
- Field Mobility and Workforce Solutions
- Outage Planning and Management Integration

- Production Accounting and Performance Management
- Telecommunications and Field Communications Technologies
Additional responsibilities include:
- Drive modernization through Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud technologies, scalable architectures, enterprise integration platforms, and modern application ecosystems.
- Champion Agile delivery, DevSecOps, API-first architecture, automation, and modern software engineering practices that improve speed, quality, security, reliability, and reuse across the technology organization.
- Lead enterprise adoption of AI, machine learning, digital twins, predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and optimization technologies to improve safety, reliability, affordability, and customer outcomes.
- Ensure technology platforms operate as an integrated ecosystem supporting seamless data and process flow across the asset lifecycle.
Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary technology partner for Generation, Transmission, and Distribution leadership.
- Translate business priorities and operational challenges into measurable technology outcomes.
- Support end-to-end utility asset lifecycle management from planning and design through construction, operations, maintenance, optimization, and retirement.\
- Lead technology investment planning, portfolio prioritization, business case development, and value realization efforts.
- Establish and maintain strategic vendor and partner relationships that advance business and technology objectives.
- Serve as the accountable Service Owner for technology platforms supporting Generation, Transmission, and Distribution, with responsibility for performance, risk, and business outcomes.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, regulatory mandates, environmental requirements, reliability standards, and enterprise governance policies.
- Establish governance processes and decision frameworks for technology portfolios, investments, architecture, and delivery performance.
- Own technology financial performance, budget management, investment prioritization, and return-on-investment accountability.
- Advance enterprise data governance, data quality, and information management capabilities.
- Partner closely with cybersecurity and operational technology leaders to maintain secure, resilient, and compliant technology environments.
Talent & Culture Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing technology organization supporting utility operational excellence.
- Create leadership pipelines, succession plans, and talent development programs that strengthen organizational capability.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
- Develop leaders capable of thinking beyond functional silos to drive enterprise-wide impact.
- Promote inclusion, learning, and engagement while attracting and retaining top technology talent.
Thought Leadership & Enterprise Impact
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology trends, digital transformation opportunities, and business innovation.
- Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory discussions, technology councils, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead enterprise conversations around AI, operational intelligence, advanced analytics, and emerging utility technologies.
- Drive technology strategies that improve reliability, resilience, affordability, safety, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
- Support enterprise transformation initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and major organizational change programs.
What We're Looking For:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline required.
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience within utility operations, energy, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, or other asset-intensive industries.
Other Must Haves:
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale technology organizations and enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
- Deep expertise in operational technologies, asset management, utility operations, engineering systems, enterprise applications, data analytics, and technology modernization.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect technology strategy to operational and financial outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead complex portfolios, large budgets, strategic investments, and executive stakeholder relationships.
- Exceptional communication, organizational leadership, and change management skills.
- Deep knowledge of electric utility operations, including Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and asset lifecycle management.
- Experience with grid modernization, renewable energy technologies, market operations, and emerging energy technologies.
- Expertise in enterprise asset management, GIS, engineering systems, predictive maintenance, digital twins, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Proven track record driving enterprise-wide organizational transformation and technology adoption.
- Experience leading technology integration activities associated with mergers, acquisitions, and business transformation efforts.
