Description
Johnson Controls supports customers across the Middle East and Africa with industrial refrigeration solutions, equipment, and project execution support. This role is part of the iREF Middle East and Africa Design and Engineering team and contributes across both pre-sales and project delivery.
What will you do
The Lead Systems Specialist - Industrial Refrigeration supports industrial refrigeration projects from tender review and concept development through detailed engineering, commissioning support, and retrofit or upgrade work. You will work with sales, operations, supply chain, CAD support, customers, consultants, and subcontractors to develop technically sound and commercially balanced solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents and support technical clarifications during the pre-sales phase.
- Conduct site surveys and participate in technical meetings with customers, consultants, and internal teams.
- Prepare technical calculations, refrigeration load calculations, system concepts, equipment selections, cost estimates, and quotation text.
- Develop process flow diagrams, initial layouts, technical submittals, and design briefs with CAD support.
- Lead detailed engineering development and review drawings, specifications, and documentation for execution.
- Support start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, handover, and retrofit or upgrade projects.
- Coordinate with sales, operations, procurement, and supply chain to support customer needs and project financial results.
How You Will Do It
- You will own the technical scope from tender review through handover, with safety, accuracy, and integrity guiding your decisions.
- You will stay close to the work by visiting sites, understanding installation constraints, and removing barriers for the customer and project team.
- You will challenge unclear inputs early and use practical problem-solving to improve estimates, scope, and design quality.
- You will work as one team with sales, operations, supply chain, CAD support, suppliers, and subcontractors to move projects forward.
- You will communicate progress, risks, and key decisions clearly so stakeholders stay aligned.
- You will look for continuous improvement in calculations, layouts, and engineering methods.
What we look for
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Five years of experience designing industrial refrigeration systems or large, complex commercial refrigeration systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial refrigeration design principles, equipment selection, and system concept development.
- Experience preparing technical calculations, cost estimates, process flow diagrams, and technical submittals.
- Ability to review tender documents and support start-up and commissioning activities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and Visio, and a basic Windows operating system environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and good English communication skills.
