About the Team:
The Database Engineer is responsible for supporting, implementing, and maintaining enterprise database platforms and cloud-based data solutions. This role requires 2-4 years of experience with database technologies, modern data architectures, and industry best practices, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS cloud services.
The engineer works on assigned projects and operational activities, delivering secure, scalable, and reliable database solutions that meet business and application requirements. Responsibilities include supporting database platforms across on-premises and AWS environments, utilizing services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, and DMS/SCT for migration and modernization initiatives.
About the Role:
The role focuses on hands-on engineering activities, including database administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, and operational support while following established standards and best practices.
This position collaborates closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to help deliver reliable and resilient database solutions. It also contributes to continuous improvement efforts through automation, monitoring, and adoption of modern database technologies.
Additionally, the engineer helps maintain the performance, availability, integrity, and security of the database environment, supporting operational excellence and consistent service delivery.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Support database engineering initiatives and contribute to project delivery and platform enhancements.
- Implement, maintain, and support SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, ensuring availability, security, performance, and reliability.
- Follow established database standards, best practices, and operational procedures.
- Assist with performance tuning, query optimization, schema changes, and database troubleshooting.
- Participate in resolving database incidents and support root cause analysis activities.
- Support cloud adoption and migration efforts to AWS using tools such as DMS and SCT, as well as services including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and related platforms.
- Assist in improving system reliability through automation, monitoring, patching, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to support secure, scalable, and resilient database solutions.
- Participate in on-call support and operational activities as required.
Requirements of the Role:
- 2-4 years of experience supporting and administering SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments.
- Working knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts, including Always On Availability Groups, replication, backups, recovery processes, and Aurora capabilities.
- Experience supporting database migrations and modernization initiatives in AWS environments, including RDS and Aurora.
- Proficiency with SQL Server technologies, including T-SQL development, database administration, and performance tuning.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform, or similar technologies.
- Understanding of database platform operations across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of source control, automation, and DevOps practices, including Git and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
- Ability to analyze technical issues and implement effective solutions under guidance when required.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with team members across multiple technical disciplines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Formal training in SQL Server and PostgreSQL technologies preferred.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and AWS cloud database services including Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and Redis Cache.
- Exposure to cloud-native and NoSQL technologies such as DynamoDB and DocumentDB is a plus.
- Relevant database or cloud certifications are desirable but not required
- AWS Cloud and PostgreSQL database certification is required.
- SQL Server Database Certification is a plus
