Description

At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it.

Position Summary

In this role you will support our company's efforts in environment, health and safety at the Summit site. The intent is to aid in the development, planning, organization, and execution of strategies that maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant facility. You will play a key role in fostering a proactive and integrated EHSS culture throughout the site. You will be expected to act according to the BMS values of integrity, inclusion, passion, innovation, urgency, and accountability.

As part of the site EHSS team, you will grow within the field of EHSS, learning how site operations and Environmental Health and Safety intersect to support the mission of supplying our Cell Therapy products to patients in need.

The expectation is that this person is on-site at Summit West 4-5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support continuous improvement of the site EHSS culture by contributing to safety communications, employee engagement activities, and awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve EHSS internal websites and SharePoint sites to keep program resources, communications, and reference materials accurate, organized, and accessible.
  • Support EHSS programs and onsite activities by assisting with data collection, documentation, inspections, communications, and follow-up actions under the guidance of EHSS team members.
  • Apply EHSS program requirements while learning how safety and environmental controls support manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in EHSS operational meetings and committees by helping prepare materials, document key takeaways, and track assigned follow-up actions.
  • Assist with maintaining, implementing, and improving EHSS programs in alignment with applicable federal, state, and local requirements and internal standards.
  • Collaborate with site teams and cross-functional partners to support EHSS initiatives and strengthen the site EHSS management system.
  • Build effective working relationships with EHSS team members and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and learning-focused team environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Interest in developing practical knowledge of environment, health, safety, and sustainability programs within a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at different levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous internship, laboratory, manufacturing, or safety-related experience is preferred but not required.
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

We hire for skills and capabilities, not just credentials – if this role excites you, but doesn’t perfectly match your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway.
