Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant
Department: Veterinary Technicians
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Whitsett, North Carolina
Description
Every blood sample, every carefully monitored anesthetic procedure, and every reassuring conversation with a pet parent plays a part in helping an animal live a healthier life. At Stoney Creek Veterinary Hospital, you’ll do more than assist with appointments — you’ll help pets feel better, families feel supported, and our veterinary team deliver exceptional care.
Conveniently located in Whitsett between Greensboro and Burlington, our full-service veterinary hospital cares for dogs, cats, and exotic pets through preventive medicine, dentistry, diagnostics, surgery, rehabilitation, and more. We’re looking for a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant who enjoys hands-on patient care, teamwork, and building meaningful relationships with clients.
What You'll Do
- Hands-On Patient Care: Safely restrain and handle patients, collect blood samples, place IV catheters, and assist with examinations and treatments.
- Anesthesia and Surgery: Monitor patients under anesthesia, support safe procedures, and provide attentive recovery care. Anesthesia experience is required; surgery experience is a plus.
- Diagnostics and Laboratory Work: Run in-house lab work, process samples, and use IDEXX diagnostic equipment to help our doctors make timely treatment decisions.
- Veterinary Team Support: Assist doctors and fellow team members with appointments, procedures, dental care, and daily patient needs.
- Client Experience: Deliver friendly, compassionate customer service, communicate clearly with pet parents, and help families feel confident in their pets’ care.
- Patient Advocacy: Notice changes, communicate concerns, and help ensure every patient receives attentive, individualized care.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Veterinary Experience: Previous veterinary hospital experience with hands-on anesthesia monitoring experience required. Surgery experience is a plus.
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in safe animal restraint and handling, blood collection, IV catheter placement, and in-house laboratory testing.
- Technology: Experience with IDEXX diagnostic equipment preferred; Cornerstone practice management software experience is a plus.
- Client Service: Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to help pet parents feel informed, welcomed, and supported.
- Teamwork and Reliability: A dependable, organized, detail-oriented approach and the ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
- Patient Advocacy: A genuine passion for animal welfare, patient safety, and supporting the people who love their pets.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, and reach as needed, safely handle and restrain animals of varying sizes, and lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment when necessary.
- Hospital Environment: Comfort working around animal noise, odors, fur, cleaning and disinfecting products, bodily fluids, and patients who may bite or scratch. Must be able to follow infection-control procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Career Growth: Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) and veterinary technology students interested in developing their clinical skills and pursuing professional growth are encouraged to explore this opportunity.
