Join us and be part of building something exceptional.
An exciting opportunity is available for a Learning Experience Design Specialist to join our global learning services delivery team and play a key role in shaping how colleagues build skills and capabilities for the future. You’ll design and develop engaging digital learning experiences using AI-powered tools and modern authoring platforms, help maintain our learning ecosystem and support our growing community of “do-it-yourself” content creators and editors across the business.
What you will be doing
- Design and develop engaging digital learning experiences (e-learning, microlearning, video-based learning, toolkits and more) that help colleagues perform and grow.
- Own small to medium learning solutions end-to-end – from early ideas and storyboards through to build, testing, launch and continuous improvement.
- Use AI-powered content tools (especially Sana Learn) and modern authoring platforms (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Elucidat, iSpring Suite) to create high-quality learning at speed.
- Apply instructional design and adult learning principles so solutions are practical, just-in-time and embedded in real work.
- Ensure all outputs – including those created by other content creators – meet agreed design, brand, accessibility and technical standards through quality checks and reviews.
- Shape the learner experience on our corporate intranet site (Leatro Engine Room) and in Workday Learning, keeping structures, pages and catalogues clear, on-brand and easy to navigate.
- Support and enable our Sana creator and Leatro Engine Room editor communities by onboarding and coaching new creators/editors, answering questions and sharing good practice.
- Use feedback and data to refine learning experiences and contribute ideas to improve our tools, templates and ways of working.
What you will need:
- A strong eye for design and user experience – able to make learning look and feel modern, clear and engaging (e.g. through layout, typography, imagery, interaction).
- Some relevant experience creating digital experiences or content (through a first role, internship, placement, freelance work or substantial personal projects) in areas such as:
- Digital learning / e-learning
- Web design / web content management
- Graphic design, multimedia, video or motion design
- UX / UI or interactive media
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI and its potential in creative and learning work, with examples of how you currently use (or are experimenting with) AI tools.
- Basic understanding of how adults learn and what makes learning effective (a formal L&D background is not essential).
- Comfort working end-to-end on small to medium digital products, from early concept sketches through to build, testing and release.
- Strong digital literacy and the ability to learn new tools quickly.
- Good written and visual communication skills, with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, delivering to agreed timelines.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written) able to collaborate and create learning content in a global environment.
- Fluent in German (min C1) to support German-speaking stakeholders and learners.
- Degree, vocational qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant area (e.g. design, media, communication, digital, education, psychology, technology, or similar).
Preferred
You don’t need all of these to apply, but it’s great if you have some:
- Exposure to modern learning authoring tools, for example:
- Sana Learn
- Articulate Storyline / Rise 360
- Elucidat
- iSpring Suite
- Experience with SharePoint or intranet site/page design (beyond basic content editing), including structure, navigation and page layout.
- Experience using or administering Workday Learning or another enterprise LMS/LXP.
- Some familiarity with HTML/CSS or web design principles.
- Experience producing or editing video, animations or motion graphics.
- Understanding of digital learning standards (e.g. SCORM, xAPI) and accessibility best practices.
- A portfolio or examples of digital work (learning, web, media or UX) that show your design skills, creativity and thinking.
Behaviours and Mindset
- Curious and experimental – eager to try new tools and approaches, especially AI, and to share learning with others.
- Learner-centric – always thinking about what will make sense and add value for colleagues in real work situations.
- Quality-focused – cares about craft, detail and maintaining the reputation of the Rolls-Royce and Leatro learning brand.
- Collaborative and supportive – enjoys working with others, coaching and enabling communities of creators and editors.
- Outcome-oriented – thinks beyond “deliverables” to the difference learning makes for people and the organisation.
- Organised and reliable – able to juggle multiple projects and keep promises to stakeholders.
