Title:

Team Lead Maritime/Principal Maritime Engineer

Team Lead Maritime / Principal Maritime Engineer

Perth, WA

Help shape the future of maritime infrastructure in Western Australia.

We're looking for a Team Lead Maritime / Principal Maritime Engineer to play a key role in expanding our maritime presence in WA while contributing to a diverse portfolio of nationally significant maritime, coastal and defence infrastructure projects.

Working closely with maritime specialists and leaders across our national business, you'll help strengthen our presence in the WA market while supporting project delivery across Australia. This is an opportunity to combine technical excellence, industry engagement and leadership within a collaborative and growing maritime capability.

Importantly, this role offers flexibility in how you create value. We recognise that senior maritime professionals bring different strengths, experiences and interests—whether that's technical leadership, project delivery, client engagement, mentoring, work winning or strategy. Rather than expecting one person to do everything, we're committed to shaping the role around the expertise and passions you bring, supported by a connected network of maritime professionals across the business.

The Opportunity:

  • Play a key role in establishing and growing KBR's maritime presence in Western Australia.

  • Contribute to major ports, harbours, coastal and defence infrastructure projects across Australia.

  • Work alongside experienced maritime professionals from across the broader business.

  • Build trusted client relationships and support the development of new opportunities.

  • Provide technical leadership and share your expertise with developing engineers.

  • Influence the future direction of our maritime capability while continuing to develop your own career.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Depending on your experience and interests, your role may include:

  • Providing technical leadership across maritime and coastal engineering projects.

  • Supporting the delivery of major projects across our national maritime portfolio.

  • Leading or supporting project management and multidisciplinary project delivery.

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.

  • Contributing to business development activities, bids and strategic pursuits.

  • Mentoring and developing engineers across the broader maritime community.

  • Collaborating closely with the National Maritime leadership team to support business growth and project opportunities.

  • Delivering studies, designs, technical reports, specifications and documentation for maritime and coastal infrastructure projects.

  • Promoting quality, safety and engineering excellence across project delivery.

About You:

We're interested in speaking with experienced maritime engineers who combine strong technical capability with a collaborative approach to leadership and relationship building.

You'll likely bring:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Significant experience in maritime and coastal engineering.

  • Experience in the design, assessment and delivery of ports, harbours and marine infrastructure.

  • Strong consulting, engineering or project delivery experience.

  • The ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Experience leading projects, mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.

  • A collaborative mindset and passion for developing capability and sharing knowledge.

  • Eligibility to work on Australian Defence-related projects. Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances will be highly regarded.

Highly Regarded

  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility.

  • Experience using structural and maritime engineering software such as Strand7, STAAD.Pro, SESAM and/or OPTIMOOR.

  • Experience working within Defence, transport, infrastructure or related industries.
