Are you passionate about preparing delicious, high-quality meals and making a difference in the lives of others? Grand Oaks of Okeechobee, a leading assisted living facility, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our Food Service Department.
Position: Cook Location: Grand Oaks of Okeechobee
Department: Food Service Reports To: Head Cook
What You'll Do:
- Prepare and serve high-quality meals for our residents, ensuring every dish meets our standards for taste, nutrition, and presentation.
- Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, maintaining an efficient workflow and consistent food quality.
- Follow standardized menus, recipes, and food safety guidelines to ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Set up serving lines and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any issues promptly.
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment according to health department regulations.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products to ensure freshness and safety.
What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of kitchen experience or training.
- Knowledge of basic commercial food service equipment and safe food handling procedures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassion, patience, and professionalism when interacting with residents, families, and coworkers.
- Team player with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
