What this Job Entails:
The System Administrator is expected to facilitate operational support to and on behalf of the assigned team. The assigned team supports and maintains a variety of large and global scale systems for building management and physical security operations. The skill set required is industry typical 'systems administration', including working knowledge of various networking systems. Work is ticket based, and the team would be expected to procedurally work through tickets (submitted via a template) to resolution.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supported new server deployment by installing operating systems for newly mounted and racked servers, ensuring servers were ready for production use.
- Performed server OS reinstallation and recovery for abnormal or failed deployments, including troubleshooting boot, installation, disk, network, and system-level issues.
- Assisted with large-scale remote OS installation using PXE boot and related provisioning workflows.
- Conducted post-installation checks, including network connectivity, hardware status, disk recognition, management interface access, and basic system validation.
- Troubleshot Linux system issues on bare-metal servers, including boot failures, disk or RAID-related problems, kernel or driver abnormalities, and service-level errors.
- Handled server network troubleshooting, including IP configuration, VLAN connectivity, DNS resolution, subnet-related issues, and IPv4 / IPv6 connectivity problems.
- Used out-of-band management methods such as IPMI to check server health status, access remote consoles, power cycle servers, and assist with recovery actions.
- Followed up on new server break-fix repair.
- Worked with remote teams, vendors, and manufacturers to investigate batch server failures, hardware defects, and repeated deployment issues.
- Submitted and tracked part RMA and media destruction processes when hardware replacement or secure disposal was required.
- Participated in on-call support and responded to issues raised by business owners or internal stakeholders.
- Improved operational efficiency by updating scripts, running Bash Shell or Python scripts, and supporting simple automation tasks.
- Created and maintained technical documentation, troubleshooting records, and standard operating procedures for server deployment and issue handling.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 2 to 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Builds productive internal and external working relationships
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Comfortable with building and managing various servers
- Experience with networking management, configurations and changes
- Experience with systems and networking troubleshooting to identify the root cause and fixes
- Knowledgeable about ticket systems and follow processes
- Good communication and writing skills

- Automation and scripting experience
