Description

Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a AGV Commissioning Engineer / Technician in the Newnan GA area

The AGV Commissioning Engineer/Technician is responsible for the complete commissioning of Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems, covering both factory (in-house) commissioning and on-site deployment. The role ensures a smooth transition from system build to full operational readiness at customer sites.

Key activities include system configuration, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, integration with fleet management systems and site infrastructure, and performance optimization under real operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform system bring-up, configuration, and validation in a controlled factory environment
  • Debug mechanical, electrical, and software issues prior to shipment
  • Configure PLCs, safety systems, and Linux-based industrial PCs (IPCs)
  • Set up and troubleshoot WLAN and industrial network connectivity
  • Execute navigation setup, including SLAM-based mapping, calibration, and optimization
  • Evaluate and ensure stability of LiDAR-based localization and navigation performance
  • Integrate and configure external I/O systems for building and process interfaces
  • Plan, coordinate, and independently execute installation and commissioning activities at customer sites
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in line with customer requirements
  • Optimize system performance to achieve stable, production-level operation under real conditions
  • Train customer teams on system operation, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance

Technical Requirements

  • Degree or technician qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable field
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering, including schematics, EPLAN, I/O testing, and structured troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems and typical failure modes in automated equipment
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, industrial communication networks, and Linux-based systems
  • Working knowledge of IT/networking fundamentals (WLAN setup, IP configuration, network diagnostics)
  • Familiarity with mobile robotics and navigation technologies, preferably LiDAR-based SLAM

Personal Competencies

  • Structured, self-driven, and results-oriented working style
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability under real-world constraints
  • Confident and professional communication in customer-facing environments
  • High level of ownership, adaptability, and organizational effectiveness in dynamic project settings

Experience (Recommended)

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in commissioning industrial machines or automated systems
  • Prior experience with AGV/AMR systems, intralogistics, or mobile robotics strongly preferred
  • Exposure to FAT/SAT execution and customer site deployments is a plus

General Conditions

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (can exceed 50%, depending on project phase) and perform hands-on field work
  • Assignments across both in-house commissioning (e.g., factory locations such as GN, GH) and customer sites worldwide
  • Willingness to perform hands-on field tasks, including physical activities such as sensor setup, alignment work, and installation of tape/markers for navigation systems
