About the Role & Team 

The Director Scripted Development will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering scripted general entertainment content for Disney+. This role supports the VP Original Productions in Italy in overseeing the scripted development and production pipeline, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality series and standalone titles. The position requires a strategic leader capable of aligning business priorities while building and managing key relationships across the industry.

This role will be based in our Milan office, 4 days a week, with either a Monday or Friday working from home.

The gross annual salary (RAL) for this position ranges from 100 000 EUR  to 152 000 EUR. The final offer within this range will be determined based on objective and neutral criteria, including the candidate's experience and skills. In addition to the gross annual salary, the overall remuneration package may include benefits and other compensation components, such as bonus schemes based on roles, medical, life & disability insurance programs, meal vouchers at 10€ per onsite day, welfare program, Disney+ subscription and Entrance Pass to Parks, in accordance with applicable company policies and collective agreements. 

The role is regulated by Dirigenti Industria National Collective Bargaining Agreement.

What You Will Do 

As Director, Scripted Development, you will lead the development and production of original scripted content in Italy, playing a critical role in shaping the local content strategy for Disney+. You will be accountable for ensuring that all productions align with brand vision, business priorities, and creative excellence. Leading both internal teams and external partnerships, you will oversee the full scripted pipeline, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role demands strategic leadership, strong industry relationships, and the ability to drive performance through collaboration and clear direction.

  • Lead and align teams around business strategies and priorities while cultivating and managing senior-level industry relationships.

  • Define and communicate a clear vision for scripted content, inspiring both individual and organizational success.

  • Set strategic direction, expectations, and priorities to empower teams to deliver innovative and effective solutions.

  • Provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and constructive feedback to develop high-performing teams.

  • Build organizational capability by developing talent, fostering growth, and encouraging continuous learning and skill expansion.

  • Champion an inclusive, supportive environment by demonstrating care, authenticity, and strong people leadership.

  • Oversee all stages of scripted development—from sourcing and evaluating ideas and IP through pilots, greenlight, and series planning—ensuring alignment with audience insights, market trends, and platform strategies.

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with writers, producers, directors, production companies, and agents, positioning Disney as a preferred partner for innovative scripted storytelling.

Required Qualifications & Skills  

  • Fluency in English and Italian

  • Proven experience in commissioning at a broadcaster or streaming service, or senior producer level within the independent sector.

  • Experience in strategic problem solving with processes

  • Experience of operating at senior levels within a complex organizational structure

  • Strong track record in managing complex production budgets

  • Demonstrated strategic command of managing a portfolio of content

  • Strong relationships across the creative community (writers, directors, producers, production companies, agents) and comfort operating at senior levels internally and externally

  • Knowledge and experience in premium scripted singles and series, talent management, and contributor welfare

  • Strong track record in managing complex production budgets

  • Demonstrated strategic command of managing a portfolio of content

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategies, priorities, and creative direction to executives, partners, and teams

  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing talent, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance team culture

  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills, with a track record of building consensus across multiple functions and markets

  • Experience developing and launching scripted formats across multiple platforms (linear, streaming, digital, audio) and international markets

  • Background in partnering with marketing experts, in the context of branded entertainment, or integrated sponsorships related to scripted content
