Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Resilience Consultant with a strong background in cloud engineering, cloud architecture, and resiliency engineering to lead the operationalization of AWS Next Generation Resilience Hub for the client's Resiliency Engineering team. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional partners — including Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, Architecture, and Service Transition — to define standards, implement resilient cloud solutions, and embed best practices across the organization.
This role combines hands-on cloud engineering, solution architecture, product ownership, project delivery, process definition, stakeholder engagement, and operational readiness accountability. It is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, taking a hands-on approach with emerging technology, and influencing how resiliency is delivered across the organization.
Location: Scarborough, ON (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
Contract Length: 8 Months (No Extension, No FTE Conversion)
Hours: 9 AM–5 PM EST
Experience Level: Senior (10+ years)
- Design, build, and operationalize cloud resilience solutions leveraging AWS Resilience Hub and other AWS services available at the client.
- Lead end-to-end delivery including solution design, development, testing, implementation, production readiness, and stakeholder adoption.
- Deploy services using AWS CDK to provision components, apply policies, and enforce least-privilege IAM.
- Define the operating model, processes, standards, and governance required to support enterprise adoption of AWS Resilience Hub.
- Establish resiliency policies, service modeling standards, assessment processes, reporting practices, and exception handling procedures.
- Partner closely with Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, Architecture, Service Transition, and Resiliency Engineering to ensure seamless delivery and adoption.
- Own and manage all PDLC governance activities including design reviews, risk and security assessments, and Go-Live approvals.
- Lead technical discussions in executive governance, architecture councils, and senior stakeholder forums.
- Manage delivery planning, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and stakeholder communications.
- Produce clear documentation, including process guides, operating procedures, stakeholder presentations, onboarding materials, and support documentation.
- Conduct Proof-of-Concept initiatives, analyze results, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Keep senior leadership informed of progress, risks, dependencies, and key decisions; proactively escalate blockers.
- Champion continuous improvement, awareness, and adoption of cloud-native resilience best practices across the enterprise.
- 10+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Architecture, Site Reliability Engineering, Resiliency Engineering, or related technology roles within a large enterprise.
- Proven experience delivering initiatives in at least one of the following domains:
- Cloud Resilience: High Availability, Observability, Disaster Recovery, Testing, or Posture Analysis.
- Cloud Engineering: Infrastructure-as-code delivery, enterprise cloud operating models, or platform engineering.
- Governance and Delivery: PDLC frameworks, security/risk processes, or operational readiness.
- Deep expertise in AWS services, cloud resilience patterns, and enterprise cloud operating models.
- Strong proficiency in AWS CDK, AWS CloudFormation, or other infrastructure-as-code delivery approaches.
- Strong product ownership, project management, and process design skills.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, interpret technical detail for executives, and convey delivery status clearly.
- Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and engineering workflow tools.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of operating independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience with AWS Resilience Hub.
- Experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
- Experience with AWS Well-Architected Framework, cloud resilience assessments, operational readiness, or chaos engineering practices.
- Experience creating executive presentations, process documentation, user guides, and operational support materials.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, an asset.
