Post Doctoral Scholar - Comprehensive Cancer CenterDepartment:
Medicine | Molecular Medicine and TherapeuticsWe invite you to apply for a Post Doctoral Scholar position to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of Dr. Deepti Mathur, Ph.D. As part of the Department of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, our goal is to use the lens of metabolism to better understand and predict cancer progression. We use a combination of experimental and clinical data paired with computational analyses to model tumor evolution. We seek a postdoctoral candidate who will apply a combination of molecular biology and engineering methods to understand how metabolic spatial structure affects cancer progression, using specialized microfluidic chambers. The postdoc will analyze and present data regularly, participate in conferences, assist in the writing of manuscripts, and mentor undergraduate or graduate trainees.
Education/Experience:
A doctoral degree in biomedical engineering or similar is required.
Wet-lab Experiments
Required: Has experience with basic molecular and cell biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, western blot, PCR, microscopy. Has experience with the creation and implementation of microfluidics. Has intellectual expertise in cancer biology.
Preferred: Has experience with metabolic assays.
Data Analysis
Required: Can conduct sophisticated data analysis using MATLAB and GraphPad Prism; can create figures in Adobe Illustrator.
Preferred: Can perform basic mathematical modeling using ODEs.
Lab Participation
Required: Collaborates well with others and has strong communication abilities; has experience writing manuscripts and preparing presentations.
Preferred: Has experience writing grant proposals and reviewing papers.
