As Senior Technical Leader / Manager, Steam Turbine Generator, you will guide high-impact client work, influence the direction of a specialized engineering team, and help expand a service offering that supports the reliability, safety, and long-term performance of critical power generation assets.
This is a highly visible opportunity for an experienced professional who wants to combine technical excellence, team leadership, and market impact in one role. You will have the chance to mentor and grow talented engineers, shape differentiated consulting solutions, strengthen strategic client relationships, and serve as a trusted expert in a critical and evolving segment of the energy industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as SI’s recognized technical leader for steam turbine and generator engineering, asset life assessment, and integrity consulting.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of steam turbine generator engineers, fostering technical development, collaboration, and long-term capability building.
  • Guide strategic consulting engagements that help clients extend asset life, improve reliability, resolve complex failures, and make informed risk-based decisions.
  • Provide technical direction for advanced engineering evaluations involving fracture mechanics, creep, fatigue, thermal and stress analysis, and finite element methods.
  • Shape the quality and technical credibility of client deliverables, proposals, reports, and recommendations.
  • Build trusted client relationships, identify growth opportunities, and help expand SI’s presence in the steam turbine generator market.
  • Partner on proposal strategy, scope development, and project planning to position SI for continued success.
  • Collaborate with engineering, nondestructive examination, materials, and business development teams to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
  • Represent SI with clients and in industry forums, conferences, and user groups to strengthen market visibility and technical reputation.
  • Help shape the future of the practice through planning, process improvement, and the development of differentiated consulting capabilities.

Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; an advanced degree is a plus. PE registration in one or multiple states is highly valued.
    • Significant experience in steam turbine generator engineering, rotating equipment, or power generation asset integrity.
    • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: life assessment, fitness-for-service, root cause failure analysis, fracture mechanics, creep, fatigue, thermal or stress analysis, or finite element analysis.
    • Demonstrated success leading technical projects, developing teams, and guiding multidisciplinary engineering efforts.
    • Strong client-facing consulting skills and the ability to communicate complex technical issues with clarity and credibility.
    • Experience supporting proposals, scope development, and business development initiatives.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in standard engineering and business software tools.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
    • Experience in steam turbine generator operations, engineering consulting, technical advisory services, or application engineering.
    • Background in steam turbine generator design, root cause analysis, operation, repair, outage support, or life extension programs.
    • Experience with CAD and finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS or Abaqus.
    • Knowledge of materials, welding, nondestructive examination, and common damage mechanisms affecting rotating and high-temperature components.
    • Experience presenting at industry conferences or participating in user groups and technical committees.

Travel Requirement: Travel is expected based on client and project needs and may include site visits, client meetings, industry conferences, and occasional internal meetings. Candidates should be comfortable with travel that varies based on project demands.
